You will have to fly to Kathmandu Airport (KTM), which is the capital and main city in Nepal. The journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara can be made by flying to Pokhara Airport (PKR), which take around six hours, or by road (using a bus or a private hire), which takes around seven hours.

Do I need to go with a guide?

While visiting Nepal, hiring trekking guides is almost mandatory for everyone. When you hire one, your trip will be more informative and memorable plus you will get lots of knowledge about the country. But if the trekkers are well experienced and have visited different places of Nepal many times then s/he may not need the trekking guides. But trekking guides can play a big role since they are able to provide information about the trekking destination along with its surroundings. Similarly, if any problems arise during the trekking, then the guides can solve it easily for the trekkers.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek involves hours of continuous walking through trails at ascending altitudes, so participants are needed to be in decent physical condition.

Any tips for what to do in the area?

Most people only know about Pokhara as a starting point for the famous Annapurna Trek. But there are so many more facets of this precious city besides trekking. We would recommend spending at least 3 days in Pokhara for you to explore this beautiful city! Phewa Lake: The second largest lake in Nepal, the steep southwestern shore is densely forested and alive with birdlife. The lush Rani Ban, or Queen’s Forest, bestows an emerald hue to the lake, and on a clear day, the Annapurna mountains are perfectly reflected on its mirror surface. Peace Stupa: Built as a symbol of peace, World Peace Stupa on the top of Pumdi Bhumdi in Pokhara offers a panoramic view of the Annapurna range, Pokhara city and Phewa Lake. Breathe in the fresh air and feel peace and the harmony that helps to refresh your body, mind and the soul!

Is there anything else I should know?

Please respect local customs and culture when you are visiting villages along this trail! Do wear modest clothing, keep noise levels down at places of worship, and keep all your litter with you until you see a bin.
