The Mardi Himal Trek is a short and relatively easy camping/tea-house trek that explores the beauty of the Annapurna region. Located towards the east of the Modi Khola across the valley from Hiunchuli, the trek follows the least trodden trail away from the crowds on the Annapurna and Everest. It traverses through thick rhododendron forests on an unspoiled terrain, and takes you high as 4100m within a few days’ walk on the ridge running down from the Machhapuchare Peak (6993m).

What you should know

The nearest city to the Mardi Himal Trek is Pokhara, but your adventure will begin from Kathmandu. Head over to Nepal Eco Adventure's office in the centre of Kathmandu city and the operator will drive you to the starting point of the trek.

From Kathmandu Airport, Nepal Eco Adventure is about a 10-minute taxi ride away. Please note that there is no public transport from the airport.

When visiting Nepal’s mountains, hiring trekking guides is mandatory for almost everyone. They will provide you information about your trekking destination as well as your surroundings, help you interact with the locals, and most importantly, ensure your safety.

Yes, definitely! Though it isn't the toughest trek in the Himalaya region, any trek up a mountain should be well prepared for. About 3-4 weeks of training cardio will make your journey up much easier.

Trekking at Nepal will be best during the seasons of spring and autumn, but it can be managed all year round. Trekking to high altitudes should be done during the summertime or September-November and March-May but the trekking at the low lands can be done throughout the year.

As the peak of the Mardi Himal Trek is not very high, the trek is safe for all months.

At the moment, there is only one option category available.

If you would like to stay in the Pokhara area to explore the city after your trek, do let the operator know! Some interesting activities include boat rides along Lake Phewa, white water rafting, and visiting bat caves. Otherwise, you will be driven back to Kathmandu after your descent and you can explore the city there.

Please ensure you purchase insurance from your home countries as Nepalese insurance does not cover mountain rescue in case of emergencies. We suggest looking for insurance that covers mountain rescues up to 5500m.
