Mt Batukaru Trek, Indonesia

Mt Batukaru is the second highest peak in Bali and it is a dormant volcano. It is surrounded by rice fields and banana plantations on the lower level. The dense rainforest gives a unique experience to those who want to explore its beauty. On clear days, the summit allows for breathtaking views of the crater, Mt Agung and even Java.

The best way to get to Mt Batukaru is through a private driver or taxi. Our options offer transfer from anywhere in Bali.

It is not mandatory but we highly recommend you to go with a guide. There are three paths to the top of the mountain and a lot of temples to be seen. As it is a dense forest, and Mt Batukaru experiences more rain than other parts of Bali, a guide who knows the path and the forest will keep you safe during this experience.

You need to be in good health condition and be able to walk for a couple of hours.

The best time to visit Mt Batukaru is during the dry season from April to October. This area experiences more rain than other parts in Bali and the summit can get very slippery. If you are climbing during the rainy season, do prepare for leeches, misty rain, and chilly overnights.

One option offers you to stay overnight and camp at Mt Batukaru while the other option will have you back at your accommodation by the end of the day.

If you have enough time, there are a few waterfalls and rice fields to be explored in the area.

This adventure is subject to weather conditions, and could be cancelled in the event of village ceremonies. You will be informed of any changes in advance.
