Nuwara Eliya is a picturesque colonial town with mist-soaked views of languid tea plantations in every direction. Though lesser-known than Ella, Nuwara Eliya has similar sweeping tea-field landscapes and more to explore in its surrounding areas - so it's worth spending a day or two here.
Updates on Nuwara Eliya Tea Field and Waterfall Exploration
After months of lockdown in Sri Lanka, operations in Nuwara Eliya have resumed under strict health guidelines that visitors must follow. Domestic travellers and ex-pats living in Sri Lanka are currently allowed to visit Nuwara Eliya for tea field and waterfall exploration.
Sri Lanka is expecting to open borders to international travellers from August 1, 2020. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates if the opening date were to change.
