You can do the rafting trip anytime during the year, but during the wet season, the rapids may rise up to Grade-IV rapids, and it may be quite dangerous for first-time rafters. If you're a first-time rafter we would recommend that you go during the dry season, which is from April to October.

There are two rivers that you can raft at around Ubud: the Telaga Waja River and the Ayung River.

Telaga Waja River
Telaga Waja River has a 16-kilometer route, and you will need 2.5 hours to finish the rafting route at Telaga Waja River. Telaga Waja River has Grade 2-3 rapids that are very suitable for beginners. The downside of Telaga Waja River is that some areas of the river have shallow waters, and it is a bit further away from Ubud - depending on where you are staying, some travellers will need to travel almost-2 hours to get there.

Ayung River
Ayung River has a 10-kilometer route, and you will need 2.5 hours to finish the rafting route at Ayung River. Ayung River has Grade 2-3 rapids that are very suitable for beginners. The starting point is a lot closer if you are staying in Ubud, only a 20 minutes drive.
