Why go

Nusa Penida is a gorgeous island and reminds us of what Bali was like 20 years ago before mass tourism. The views are epic, the roads are narrow and winding and it's not filled with villas yet. The local culture here is also fascinating & different from mainland Bali. It has gotten more crowded in recent years, but there are ways to avoid the crowds (see tips 👇)

What to do or see here

Penida is big! In a day, you'll only cover the West (beaches, snorkelling, IG-spots) or East (seaweed farm, Diamond Beach, cool temple). For less crowded vibes, head to East Penida.

Best Time to Go

Try to go during dry season between April to Nov, as most of the sights are outdoors and you may not get great pictures if it rains. Also rainy season = bad snorkelling conditions.

Who is it for?

West Penida is for beaches + snorkelling, East Penida is for authenticity + less crowds. Suits all ages/fitness, but only snorkel if you're a good swimmer (currents are strong).

Top Tips

To beat the crowds, avoid West Penida OR stay overnight & see hotspots after day-trippers leave. Penida is raw, so a good guide is crucial for safety, especially when snorkelling.
