Trek to the rim of the Ijen crater with a former miner to catch a beautiful sunrise over the multi-textured crater surface. Here you can admire views of the otherworldly crater lake, watch the plumes of steam rising from the bottom and witness miners carrying heavy loads of sulfur to the top. Once you finish your excursion, your host Johan, will take you to the neighboring villages where you can enjoy breakfast and some refreshing waterfalls.

Although he does not speak a lot of English, he is a very caring guide who will show you the hidden corners of this place as well as patiently stop for photos.
