Can I do a half-day tour of Komodo National Park?

It's possible, but it'll be pretty expensive!

Depending on whether you're taking a wooden boat (2.5 hours one-way), or speedboat (1.5 hours one-way), it takes a while to get out from Labuan Bajo to Komodo National Park. That's why unless you're already out in Komodo National Park on a Cruise, there aren't any half-day group trips from Labuan Bajo to Komodo National Park.

If you are out on a Cruise already in Komodo National Park - that's great news as there are group trips that can pick you up from the cruise boat and do a half-day trip to Komodo Island and Pink Beach.

Group trips like these take 1-3 days from Labuan Bajo so a half day trip is out

If you're in Labuan Bajo and only have half a day to do a trip, unfortunately there are no group trips that can do a half-day trip. The group trips cater for the bulk of travellers who are looking to visit all the highlights of Komodo National Park - so they pack in as much as possible!

So if you really, really only have half a day to see Komodo National Park, the only way to do so is by chartering a private speedboat - like the one pictured below. The lowest price speedboat is > USD 700 for a day's private charter.

It takes 1.5 hours to get out to Komodo National Park (and another 1.5 hours back, depending on currents) so that leaves you a short 3-4 hours out in the National Park. That would be sufficient to visit 2 islands that are close to together - potentially Komodo Island and Pink Beach (depending on the currents!).
