Great trip and certainly recommend two nights and three days to get a better feel of the bay.
Liked: Crew we're all so friendly and helpful, although Ha Long Bay is busy Rosa managed to find quiet spots to moor when they could.
Definitely recommend doing two nights and three days to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Disliked: Nothing that Rosa did, just sad to see the plastic pollution in the bay and the number of boats doing tours.
Also the four hour trip from Hanoi, which you can't avoid!
Great for a single night cruise stay, just right on quality, value for money & fantastic food!
Liked: Comfy bed! Excellent quantity and quality of food for a cruise! All freshly cooked and very tasty! Staff very friendly and helpful! Waited to provide towels after swimming from the boat! Small size group on cruise so not crowded, busy or noisy!
Disliked: Drinks not included with meals - although this was clearly stated in the exclusion list. It would have been nice to include a complimentary drink for each meal! Prices for drinks on board were expensive!
Great time with Rosa on Halong Bay. Harry was a really good tour guide who was very friendly, informative and enthusiastic. He spoke great English and gave us some good recommendations for the rest of our travels. Our advice would be to 100% do the 2 nights as it allows you see more of Halong Bay and spend more time exploring the caves and hidden areas of the bay. The boat was clean, comfortable, pleasant and offers great food.
We are two travellers on our gap year (19 years old). We decided to splash out of our budget on a Halong Bay two day one night tour as it was something we really wanted to see.
Our trip with Rosa cruise was completely worth the money and we’re more than satisfied with the cruise.
Picked up on time from the hostel by tour guide Harry who was very informative.
The drive is 3hrs to the dock but it felt short due to the comfort of the seats - you can sleep easily.
All food is provided on the boat (and there’s plenty of it).
Activities included kayaking, exploring caves, open sea swimming, fishing, cooking and tai chi!
Drinks on the boat were reasonably priced too and the staff were incredible.
The rooms are really clean and spacious too - definitely recommend Rosa Cruise to anyone!
Harry (our tour guide) went above and beyond and showed us everything there was to see and we really got on with him he gave us many recommendations for the rest of North Vietnam!
Thank you Rosa Cruise & Harry!!
2days1night: Small boat but comparable to others
here are a lot of different boat cruises in Halong Bay. We ended up choosing Rosa Cruise because the boat wasnt too big and we found a good offer. We booked a 2 day and 1 night trip from and to Hanoi. It was basically just one full day in the bay because of the drive from Hanoi (we got to the bay at 12.15 on Saturday and left again on Sunday at 12.15). All meals were included (and we always got plenty of food including always various types of meat and seafood) but drinks except for a few bottles of water during transportation and a welcome drink had to be paid extra (and were quite pricey for Vietnam).
The programm sounds quite good (visit the oyster farm, kayaking, swimming in the bay on the first day and tai chi, visiting a cave and cooking class (spring rolls) on the next day, but when you look around in the bay all the other boats are doing the same (maybe in a different order and different kayaking spot). In the morning you could see people doing tai chi on all the boats.
If you want to go for 2 days one night I would still recommend a small boat and then choose the one with the best offer.
I talked to a few people who did 3 days 2 nights. On our boat it was just one person. On her second day (when we arrived) they sent her to a huge boat with lots of other people that apperently wasnt as nice and the beach they went to was too crowded. Other people told me that they stayed on a boat that was also 2 nights but they spent one night on an island which apparently was a lot better because the boat has to drive further out in the bay as a result not that many boats are around (it seems like all the other boats stay in the same area).
