What You'll Do

What You'll Do

This is a sample itinerary and may be weather-dependent.
Day 1: Labuan Bajo - Kanawa Island - Pink Beach - Komodo Island
Labuan Bajo - Kanawa Island - Pink Beach - Komodo Island

Today you will be doing snorkelling around the islands.

  • 10.30 am: Start traveling from Labuan Bajo
  • Head to Kanawa Island. This is a small island surrounded by crystal clear waters and beautiful coral.
  • Leave for Pink Beach. This aptly named beach is peppered with red coral, giving it a light pink hue. Only a handful of places in the world have this natural phenomenon! Snorkel or relax.
  • Later sail to Komodo Island to encounter with Komodo dragons in their natural habitat.
  • Dine and overnight on boat
Day 2: Padar Island - Rinca Island - Kelor Island - Labuan Bajo
Padar Island - Rinca Island - Kelor Island - Labuan Bajo

Today you will be doing some trekking around the islands to spot the Komodos in their natural habitat.

  • 05.00 am: Set sail for Padar Island. Hike to the top of Padar Island to see the most iconic view of Komodo National Park. It's a short but steep, 30-minute hike, and well worth it!
  • Visit Rinca Island, Trek at the Island. About 1049 dragons reside here, and you can hike around the island to try to spot them!
  • Sail to Kelor Island. This is a small island next to Komodo Island surrounded by beautiful beaches. There's a short but steep hike up to a great viewpoint!
  • Return to Labuan Bajo

I and my family just completed a 3D2N (17-19 August 2018) private tour to Labuan Bajo by Dolphin Travelmate (Mr. Zulfikar),. I bought this package at Garuda Travel Fairs on April 2018 ago. This is the first tour we have on board. Very suprises for us. We are very satisfied with the service. The places visited were very interesting and memorable. The value we get is more than the price we paid. So far the most memorable tour we've ever had.

My family, friends and I just completed 3D2N LOB at Labuan Bajo. The trip includes kelor, menjerite, rinca, kalong, padar, pink beach, takka makasar, manta point, gili lawa and kanawa. All places have beautiful things to see and enjoy! From trekking to snorkeling. We booked the package for 3D2N on boat, pick up at Hotel and drop at Airport, include meals and entrance to Taman Nasional Komodo, through Bang Zul. He is very helpful and very quick in responding to my queries and request. We were accompanied by Rossy during the trip, who is very friendly and accommodating to our needs and fussy request. Also, he took photos for us too! The Boat is amazing, we were on Aqua Luna Selini! The boat is beautiful and my most favourite is the deck! It's very relaxing to just chill at the deck and watch the beautiful landscape surrounding you 24hrs! We even spent the night at that the deck. Food is never a problem! Fish and seafood are super fresh! But our favourite is the Pisang Goreng for afternoon snacks! The crew and captain are very helpful and friendly also! Really had a good time at Labuan Bajo! Very recommended!

dolphin travelmate offered the best sailing experience, for 3 days we enjoy every beautiful islands, ocean, and (sunset)sky view. we swam with fishes, turtles, mantas, even dolphins. we hike through hills, and swam between corals and fishes. the stars, moon, and darkness at night on the boat in the middle of the ocean is as amazing too. and of course the guide is awesome, zul is very friendly and warm, and accomodated us with everything we need, even all the boat staff are very welcoming and friendly! we are on open trip so things can be awkward between guests but he helped us know each other with games. oh and the foods they provide is really good! what better than hot food after swimming on the ocean?! will come back for sure! thankyou dolphin travelmate!

How much are Komodo National Park fees?

Komodo National Park fees are complicated. They depend on: the islands visited (which is weather dependent), whether it's a weekday or a weekend, whether the guest is a foreigner or a local, and the number of people on the boat (as ranger fees are shared). This is why no two people will tell you the same number when asked about fees!

The fees are also complicated by the fact that they're set by the national government and paid directly to Jakarta. So there is little visibility on changes from time to time.

This is why we usually advise international guests to bring cash of between IDR 350K to IDR 460K per person per day for weekdays and between IDR 400K to IDR 520K per person per day for weekends. This is more than you need, but it avoids you ending up short of cash if the boat doesn't have too many people or the fees suddenly change!

A few of our trips include the fees in the price. You can see it listed in the inclusion list. If this is the case there is no need to bring cash with you.

Can I still visit Komodo National Park in Jan-March rainy season?

While you can still visit Komodo National Park during the rainy season in Jan-March, there is a higher risk of boat trips being cancelled due to the weather.

The risk is lowest for the 1-day speedboats (as they are more stable) so if you are going Jan-March, we would highly recommend doing a 1-day speedboat trip. Although the 2D1N trips and some 3D2N trips are still sailing during the rainy season, there is a slightly higher risk that they might be cancelled due to the weather.

Given the unpredictability of the weather, the cancellation could happen at any time (even the morning of the trip). We will keep you updated as soon as we can if the weather prediction is not favourable for your trip.

If your trip is cancelled due to the weather, you can choose to receive a full refund, OR reschedule your trip for the next day (if weather permits). So if you're travelling from Jan-March to Komodo, please plan some extra days for your trip so you have additional days to try again, even if your original trip is cancelled!

Is the itinerary guaranteed?

The itinerary for Komodo National Park is very weather dependent, as the journey takes place out in open waters. Some days the currents are very strong, and it might not be safe to go to certain islands. We know this can be frustrating if you had your heart set on specific spots, but please be assured that the boat operators will do their very best to make sure you see the dragons and the highlights of the park - even if it's not identical to the itinerary here. A visit to Komodo is quite the adventure, so please do be prepared to embrace some level of uncertainty!
