Spend 2D1N in the midst of rice paddies in this modern homestay. Padi Box is a container-style homestay located 5km from Redang Beach in Sekinchan. Surrounded by paddy fields, you’ll get picturesque views all around you. As Padi Box was built from recycled containers, do bear in mind that the rooms wouldn’t be the most spacious of the lot. You will be given a bicycle to cycle around the rice fields as a local guide shows you the rice farming process in Sekinchan. The guide will be happy if you would like to get hands-on too!

It's a fantastic place for the gram and airconditioning here was off the hook and super necessary for sunny Sekinchan. The colorful container rooms overlooking the golden paddy fields awaiting harvest was an amazing viewpoint. The owners have also taken some efforts putting up swings to perfect the idllyic views available here. Nevertheless, housekeeping was not as detailed as they should have been with an unusable fan and empty water bottles left in our room upon check-in. If they did more to maintain the interiors of the bathrooms and amenities we'd have given a higher rating. Still, worth a visit for the amazing views.

Nice panoramic views of the paddy fields, though need to check about the harvest/planting season to ensure best sceneries. The washroom is moldy and dirty though.

This is a nice place if you intention is to live among the paddy fields. Unfortunately, when we were there, the padi was just planted & rather a shoddy job if i may say. But good for sunrise photography.

1) location- right among the padi fields, therefore good if you want to experience a ‘kampung’ or village atmosphere. But you do need your own transport to get around 2) room- I stayed in the standard 2 pax room on the ground floor. It was reasonably clean, good aircond, tv- HBO good reception, wifi also good. 2 bottles of drinking water & a kettle was provided but no coffee/tea or glass/mug... so bring your own if you want to have coffee/tea in the room. We noticed some brownish water seeping through the floor (our room was on the ground floor)... not much but enough to feel the wetness. Informed the staff on night duty, he didn’t seem surprised ... said it’s from the padi fields, and brought some rags to dry the floor. 3) the reviews about insects at night was true ... it’s not exactly mosquitos, but very small flying insects... didn’t bite but enough to make you uncomfortable... so better to just stay inside at night 4) there are no eateries nearby except for the ‘bus cafe’ in front of the hotel ... we did not go because I read previous reviews that it only serve pastries and is closed at night. If you want ‘real food’ you’ll have to drive to town, towards Tanjung Karang or towards Sungai Besar. To summarize, I would say it’s ok for 1 night stay. The staff could have been more resourceful... should be able to suggest where to go for food, and to experience something unique in the area. It would be better if the hotel can provide some simple breakfast for guests who don’t want to go out in the morning.

we checked in at 3.30pm & went to my room to rest & clean up before dinner. When I opened the room, cool air met us. it was so nice & considerate of the staff for this gesture. then we found out that there was an electricity slowdown & had to get the generator to cool down our room. Thank you staff for this small gesture but made a great impression of the service you provide.
