My whole experience with River Junkie Tours was great and I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to climb Mt Kinabalu! The company was very professional from the start. I originally booked the 2D/1N Mt Kinabalu trek with the LPC Via Ferrata. However, the LPC was closed due to maintenance and I was downgraded to the Walk the Torq activity by the park office. River Junkie called personally to apologize for this which I really appreciated (obviously it was not their fault). They also offered me a refund straight away without me having to ask for it (also very appreciated). Effrey was my guide during the activity. He was very professional and friendly. He adapted perfectly to my speed and made sure that I was fine during the whole climb, which made it a very enjoyable experience. Mt Kinabalu itself was beautiful and definitely worth the effort. I do quite a lot of hiking at home, so it was not too hard for me. However, I struggled a little bit with the altitude at the end. The Walk the Torq activity was less challenging than I expected (a bit too easy to be honest). Since I was looking for a challenge, I was a little disappointed by it. But if it's the first time for you climbing a mountain or doing a via ferrata it would definitely be a great experience. To summarize: It was a unique experience, a beautiful mountain, good company and a great company!

If you're hiking Mt. Kinabalu with no frills, I highly recommend River Junkie. From hotel pick up, to our climb and back to the hotel, was seamless. Our mountain guide, Effrey was the best! He was not only a guide but became our friend throughout the journey. He was very skillfull and is well experienced. Thanks again!

We were satisfied by the services they provided when we booked for a Mt Kinabalu via Ferata last April 2019.
The transaction was smooth from inquiry to the actual climb.

Finished the hike up Mount Kinabalu. Used River Junkies to book the tour. The company responded relatively quickly To my emails. I had to book a few weeks in advance or they wouldn’t have had space in the huts at the top of the mountain. Waiting till last minute is not a good idea. I think the company should specify how hard the hike actually is. Quite a few people I met on the hike, said they were very clueless as to what they should have expected. So I think the information was flawed. The company should be more thorough. The huts were very disappointing. I didn’t expect much, but the beds grossed me out the most. I would personally bring a pillow case because the sheets and pillows never looked like they were ever changed. I also felt like the coffee and tea should be free. Your paying 500€ for the hike, they gave give free hot water. We shouldn’t have to pay for that. Again the hike was quite difficult. But the tours guides, especially Roger, were amazingggg! Roger helped me through the whole thing.
