We were looking for an experience that was unique, yet familiar, luxurious, yet approachable. We got exactly that with our stay with Nyaman Boat, and this truly was an amazing experience. From the minute we were picked up from the airport, the crew were first class. This was a trip of a lifetime and ticked all our boxes - spectacular food and service, clean and comfortable rooms, off the beaten path highlights (like stopping to pick up fresh seafood for dinner at a small fishing village, to snorkelling in some of the bluest clearest water we have ever seen, to dolphin and sea turtle spotting) - the list goes on! Every little touch was special and memorable - our beds were made when we returned from breakfast, towels and drinks were readily available after each snorkel/dive session, the deck/common area was kept immaculate and dry. We saw so many beautiful creatures - stingrays, turtles, dolphins and of course the majestic Komodo dragons! Thank you to the crew at Nyaman Boat, especially Pian who was the best host! There is no doubt in our minds that we will return with our friends and family for a longer stay!

We wanted something really different from many cruises and we got it! During our 5 days cruise we explored the wonders of the park: wildlife, snorkling, visit of indigenous community and according to local conditions the schedule was adapted to what we wanted to do most. In short wonderful vacation: great crew, great service and excellent food (many french recipes from Stephan's mother!) We strongly recommend

We had one of the best time during our trip to Komodo with Nyaman cruise (6days 5 nights). It was truly one of the most memorable trips of our lives (and we do travel a LOT)! We spent quite a lot of time doing extensive researches about various boats and we have ruled out staying on Flores and taking the day-trip out as it would be too exhausting. Finding Nyaman was probably one of the best things that ever happened to us during all the trips we ever took! The crews were super attentive and we were treated like 5-star hotel guests. Anything we asked, they catered to us. The foods were really amazing. Anita, the chef, can cook anything we asked for (both western and local dishes). Her desserts were the best and we were surprised that all the desserts were made on the boat freshly baked in the oven there! Anna who is a manager made sure that we were thoroughly happy and comfortable during our trip. She always listened to our requests and customized the plan for us! We were lucky enough to be accompanied by the owner, Stephan who brought us along for an unplanned adventure to a magical island, organized a special morning cruise to see the dolphins, bought a huge fresh fish from the local fisherman to treat us and he even asked Anna to seek out lobsters for us. She had to take a 2-hour boat trip to a nearby island just to get them for us! The nature at Komodo national park is one of the most beautiful we have seen. The reefs were healthy and colorful (We have been to the Maldives, the Philippines, Bora Bora and many other tropical islands). We saw tons of Mantas and colorful fishes. The activity leader, Piem, took us to hidden spots and beautiful snorkeling sites. The boat itself is quite amazing. It's a traditional Phinisi boat but tastefully decorated. Our rooms were clean and the beds are very comfortable! The common area is spacious -- both the dining area downstairs and the lounging area upstairs (The canvas can be opened for star gazing)! The cruise was very smooth -- we actually traveled with another friend who often had seasickness but she was perfectly fine the whole trip. When we went out for an excursion, a small boat is provided to reach the shore. The snorkeling equipment provided is excellent and the staffs always helped take great care of us (they even clean the snorkeling masks for you!). We would like to thanks all the crew members. They did an amazing job! It’s truly a once in a lifetime experience for us to join the boat. We can’t wait to go back again!

From A to Z this was just fabulous! The boat's crew was incredibly professional, always there for you, yet in a totally non-intrusive way. The meals were all freshly prepared, with a lot of detail and care. The floor plan of the boat, both indoors and outdoors was perfect. And the scuba equipment, instructor and supporting crew were outstanding. Of course, in addition to the boat, the location itself was fabulous: great diving in a multiple different spots, with mantas, sea turtles, white-tip sharks in addition to a great variety of fish and corals. A truly unforgettable trip!

How much are Komodo National Park fees?

Komodo National Park fees are complicated. They depend on: the islands visited (which is weather dependent), whether it's a weekday or a weekend, whether the guest is a foreigner or a local, and the number of people on the boat (as ranger fees are shared). This is why no two people will tell you the same number when asked about fees!

The fees are also complicated by the fact that they're set by the national government and paid directly to Jakarta. So there is little visibility on changes from time to time.

This is why we usually advise international guests to bring cash of between IDR 350K to IDR 460K per person per day for weekdays and between IDR 400K to IDR 520K per person per day for weekends. This is more than you need, but it avoids you ending up short of cash if the boat doesn't have too many people or the fees suddenly change!

A few of our trips include the fees in the price. You can see it listed in the inclusion list. If this is the case there is no need to bring cash with you.

Can I still visit Komodo National Park in Jan-March rainy season?

While you can still visit Komodo National Park during the rainy season in Jan-March, there is a higher risk of boat trips being cancelled due to the weather.

The risk is lowest for the 1-day speedboats (as they are more stable) so if you are going Jan-March, we would highly recommend doing a 1-day speedboat trip. Although the 2D1N trips and some 3D2N trips are still sailing during the rainy season, there is a slightly higher risk that they might be cancelled due to the weather.

Given the unpredictability of the weather, the cancellation could happen at any time (even the morning of the trip). We will keep you updated as soon as we can if the weather prediction is not favourable for your trip.

If your trip is cancelled due to the weather, you can choose to receive a full refund, OR reschedule your trip for the next day (if weather permits). So if you're travelling from Jan-March to Komodo, please plan some extra days for your trip so you have additional days to try again, even if your original trip is cancelled!

Is the itinerary guaranteed?

The itinerary for Komodo National Park is very weather dependent, as the journey takes place out in open waters. Some days the currents are very strong, and it might not be safe to go to certain islands. We know this can be frustrating if you had your heart set on specific spots, but please be assured that the boat operators will do their very best to make sure you see the dragons and the highlights of the park - even if it's not identical to the itinerary here. A visit to Komodo is quite the adventure, so please do be prepared to embrace some level of uncertainty!
