Ever heard of an Insect Farm? Neither have we, but now we are convinced that insect farming holds the secret to a more sustainable future. During this 75 minute trip, you'll be hosted by Kai Ning, the 25-year-old co-founder of Insectta, Singapore's first-ever insect farm. More on InsecttaAt Insectta, Kai Ning dreams of a world where black soldier flies will solve our food waste problems. The greedy larvae of these flies that she raises gobble up food waste, and in return, poop out organic fertiliser of the highest quality. Larvae also becomes quality feed for livestock. One insect, multiple uses, and zero wastage!'Insects are so useful in so many ways and we hope what we do here can dismantle years of stigma surrounding insects for a better future,' said Kai Ning.We usually prefer to respect insects from a distance, but we love having a place to encourage us to get up close, and see all the good these little critters bring. This activity is great for kids of all ages!Meeting DetailsThe educational tour is held at Insectta, 60 Jalan Penjara, and is suitable for learners of all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. In the event of rain, the tour will continue as planned as the premises are sheltered. Please DO NOT spray insect repellent before or during the visit.Important NotePlease note this activity requires a minimum of 8 people to go ahead. If the minimum requirement is not met we will notify you a week before the activity date. A total of 10 people can participate during any given session with subgroups of 5 people each.

As the first urban insect farm in Singapore rearing the black soldier fly (hermetia illucens), Insectta takes food waste and returns it into the economy as valuable biomaterials. They hold the knowledge to farm, process, and extract high-value biomaterials from the black soldier fly, ready for use in a diverse array of industries.

Helpful Questions from Our Community
Hi..just want to enquire if it is possible to do field trip for ages 5_6 years old (K1) in this insect farm? There will be around 20 kids in one class and most probably 3-4 adults. Not really sure if it is possible as I have read that maximum 10 pax only for each session. Thanks you and looking forward for your response.
Hi Donna,
Yes, the capacity of the farm is for 10 people.
For group of 20 people, we would recommend to split the group into 2 sessions
You can contact us for more details at chat@seeksophie.com :)
