Finding rascals kite resort was just the best what could have happened to us! I travelled with my husband and child and the owner and manager Johanna welcomed us so lovely that it felt like staying at home. We actually changed our travel plans, so we could stay longer as Rascals just has it all. A nice pool, great food and people and kitesurfing. Also if you need help to get a trip done to wherever, Johanna is very kind and helpful! Totally recommendable!

The resort is the usual bare bones, or a little better then bare bones place which is the standard model in Kalpitya. Shared meals, slow internet, brownouts that sort of thing. You have to pay extra for A/C and fan, but without it the mosquitos will eat you alive. So far so average. However where the place really stands out is the kite school. They offered by far the best lessons I've had during my long and arduous journey to pretend I am young at heart. Final word, they do not have an alcohol license, but you can buy your own booze and store it behind the counter.

What a lovely and breathtaking spot... A driver picked us up at a car parking near Colombo Airport and after a 3,5 hours ride through tiny villages and beautiful nature we arrived at a green paradies, surrounded by beautiful flowers and the smile of all the lovely people - The Rascal! Every corner of the camp is decorated with so much love by using only natural and ecological materials. The accomodations are very comfortable and cosy. For the first nights we had booked a Cabana, where no AC is installed. As the nights are still so tropically hot we asked if it would be possible to change rooms. Johanna and her team helped very quickly and asked in the neighbour resort for a room with AC as all AC rooms at The Rascals have been booked. We could change immediately. Thank you very much for this spontenous and uncomplicated solution! We stayed for 9 nights and enjoyed the nice and well-organised trips to the kite spots, the delicious and healthy food, the familiar atmosphere and the very, very relaxed and good mood of the staff. To us they stay at Rascals was a 5 star-holiday. We would totally recommend this place. Johanna and the team - Thank you for a perfect trip to beautiful Sri Lanka!

Having stayed at many kite places in Kalpityia over the years, Rascals is by far the most beautiful resort of them all. Set in a lush garden, with a refreshing pool and a nice restaurant. The staff are lovely and hospitable and I enjoyed the meals and the ambience a lot. The great bonus about this resort is everyday you go by boat to the kite lagoon and get to enjoy nice views, the other resorts transport you by truck which is uncomfortable and bumpy. This is the best place to stay in Kalpityia by far. Thanks for a great stay

Despite the terrible events in Sri Lanka we went ahead with our plans to meet ten friends we'd met there last year. We were picked up at the airport and had a fantastic holiday, kiting every day for 20 days. Every member of staff contributed to making our stay so good - the food was great, room lovely, boat to the lagoons always there, lunch at the beach or the pool - thanks everyone! If you're thinking of a trip to Sri Lanka- our experience was great. Stay at Rascals with friends or make new friends there. We hope to go back next year.
