This is a chance to get your feet wet - and a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of fascinating creatures from the marine world! The waters around Singapore, contrary to popular belief, are still teeming with marine life. And every once in a while their world becomes accessible for a few hours. A suitably low tide and a pair of booties are all you need to explore and discover what it takes to eke out a living in the harsh and unforgiving environment of the intertidal zone.Pulau Hantu (“Ghost Island” in Malay) are two small islets in the southern waters of Singapore, a short 1-hour boat ride away from the mainland. Its fringing coral reef is home to a wide variety of marine life, such as the iconic clownfish of Hollywood fame, colourful slugs and anemones, oddly-shaped soft corals and sea cucumbers, and more.Important NotesDue to the high overheads, a minimum number of participants is needed for the trip to proceed. Trip will be cancelled should the required minimum number of participants not be met 3 days prior to the trip date. Your ticket will be refunded in this case. The intertidal area is not a playground, there's venomous and poisonous creatures, such a stonefishes, stingrays or jellyfishes around. Participants need to follow the guide at all times for their safety and also the safety of the animals. The intertidal walk itself will be about 2 hours, and you may have to wade through knee-deep water and across patches where the substrate is fairly soft.Recommended age: 10 years and above. There is no minimum age requirement and it is up to the parents' good judgement whether the activity is suitable for their children.

The label "Ulu" is generously applied to any out of the way place where nature is still somewhat untamed and wild. Really ulu places have plenty of wilderness and rustic charm to offer. Contrary to popular belief, there are still places left in Singapore that match the above description. Ulu Singapore is founded by an experienced nature guide - Robert, specialising in taking the curious and adventurous on guided nature walks to the remote and rustic corners of the city.

Dear Nishka, thank you for joining my walk yesterday and for taking time out for writing a review! Your positive feedback is much appreciated! I'm happy to hear you and your husband enjoyed the walk through the rainforest and that I've been able to show you a few new facets of Singapore's rich natural heritage. Plenty more to discover, so do go back again sometime and explore the place further. Looking forward to seeing you again at another of my walks in the future!
