Staff from Atlantis restaurant (upper deck) was not trained well too many mistakes when ordering just drinks. 2 types of wine where out of stock no replacement offer besides ran out of classic spirits.
Very spacious rooms with great bedding.
We love everything about this hotel:
- the staff was incredibly friendly, they even help us sending us the money we left behind
- the food was very good even though is more expensive than the local restaurants - the breakfast (included) was amazing
- we got the best villa, in front of the beach with a private swimming pool, and the villa was clean, very comfy and big
- I got a welcome massage of 7 minutes which was much appreciated
- the equipment is great (paddle, kayak, snorkeling gear ...)
Poor staff service, poor English, no service after 23:00, water is slow flow, toilet is big but empty
Best in Komodo before 15Sep 2018, Ayana will takeover the best hotel after that...
Excursion prices are extremely high. It's clearly positioned for high-end luxury without exception. Not sure if they're value for money as we didn't do any.
While the bay is charming, the sea is unfortunately littered by plastic which constantly floats slowly to the beach. While it's not the responsibility of the resort itself, I find it depressing.
They should do more to promote sustainable practices (why giving plastic bottles in the rooms when you can offer free water refills at the bar?)
The rooms (or villas I should say) are out of this world. Truly amazing. What's even nicer is that the whole resort (rooms included) is themed to traditional Indonesia, so it's very charming.
Most of the basic activities are included in the room rate and that is a plus.
The resort is well located if you're a runner, as you can do both road and trail running from it.
Breakfast is awesome as well.
We stayed here 2 nights while visiting Komodo Island. The beach is right outside your front door. It was our wedding anniversary and they decorated our room in the most wonderful way. The hotel has a schooner that can be rented and the group we were with had not just rented the boat for the day to take us to Komodo Island to see the dragons but the hotel set up a fantastic gourmet lunch on a deserted island. Such luxury and service. Just loved the laid back atmosphere
