We really enjoyed our time on Perama’s Komodo (Labuan Bajo) to Lombok Tour. It was great value for the money.
Tour: Rinca Island was the highlight with loads of Komodo dragons to see. The two snorkeling stops were not very impressive (and their snorkeling equipment had seen better days). Moyo Island was good fun.
Boat: the boat was better than expected. Quite sizable, comfortably fitting the ~24 people on our tour. We chose the deck option and were happy with the decision. Don’t expect a great night’s sleep - you’re at sea, on a thin mattress, sharing a space with many other people. Our travel sheets, which we rarely use, were incredibly helpful for the deck. The seas got a little rocky at times, but we embraced and enjoyed it. We never felt in danger.
Food: we were pleasantly surprised with the food - every meal was quite tasty and we were never left hungry.
Staff: they were pleasant, but a little removed - just working behind the scenes.
We were a little disappointed by the lack of environmental efforts by the boat - trash easily blown off the boat, cigarette butts overboard, toilets emptying directly in the water (make certain someone didn’t just flush before you jump in), but this unfortunately is likely the standard here.
In summary, if you’re willing to embrace the budget travel, and you get a good group of travelers, you’re going to have a lot of fun on this tour.
I went on the 4N 5D Hunting Komodo by Camera round trip with Perama and this was one of the best trips I have ever taken. Being away at sea and living on a boat was so refreshing. The staff were professional and worked extremely hard to make sure everyone was happy. The food was wonderful with more than enough for everyone. There were showers on board too.
We got to see many highlights along the way to Flores and back, including of course the komodo dragons but also various beautiful snorkelling spots and treks through islands to breath taking views.
Often our sailing trip was the only group of tourists there at places we visited, making it feel like a really personal and private experience. On one particular evening we stopped at Kila beach in Sumbawa to watch the sunset around a bonfire eating roasted corn, whilst we spent one morning rope swinging down waterfalls in the jungle on Moyo island.
We saw so much of the beauty of Indonesia in a short space of time. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants a trip with a combination of adventure and relaxation with fun and friendly staff. This will be an experience you will never forget.
Me and my friend were on the 7D/6N boat trip to Komodo Island. The boat were big and we were only 8 guests in total so we had plenty of room. The food onboard was really good and different for each day. The crew were really helpful and funny. We visited many islands and saw the Komodo dragons on both Komodo and Rinca Island. This is definitely a trip I will recommend to friends and family.
We did the explore Komodo National Park tour (3 days) we were hugely impressed by the value and professionalism of Perama tours and would recommend them to anyone. The boat was very comfortable we had a private cabin with fan, a fully outfitted bathroom, excellent food and free tea/coffee any time we wanted. They provided a cool box with ice to keep beer and snacks in. Sten Gusdin was our guide and he was not just highly knowledgable but very entertaining and a super photographer. Five Stars and a thumbs up
I had an amazing experience on the Lombok-Flores-Lombok (5 days 4 night) boat trip. The staff and guides were all very friendly and spoke good English. The food was very yummy and there was always fresh fruit. We visited amazing quiet islands, beautiful beaches and saw many Komodo dragons on Rinca Island. The facilities are basic but decent. It makes for a memorable experience. The snorkelling is insane. The corals and fish are all so colourful and the water was crystal clear. Perama brings you to some very cool islands where no other boats go.
