4 of us from Australia recently enjoyed Halong Bay cruise with Dan the Man as our tour guide. Dan was very helpful, courteous, great sense of humour and willing to share his knowledge of the local area. Halong Bay is beautiful, our boat was just lovely and very well appointed, food was amazing and plentiful, Dan the Man was very professional as were all the staff onboard. Dans English was very easy to understand, staff also spoke English. Limestone Cave visit and kayaking added to the fun and experience. Highly recommended!
Spent the day on a cruise around the Ha Long bay, had an amazing meal, went inside two spectacular caves, and had a couple of drinks on the boat. Dat looked after our group all day, he has a great knowledge of the area, and made the whole experience so much more enjoyable!
I booked my boyfriend and I on the overnight Premium Cruise and we had no idea what to expect. LetÕs just say we were blown away by not only the beauty of Halong Bay, but by the amazing crew we had catering to us for 24 hours. We had 5 crew (our Guide, Minh; our Chef: Thang; the Captain: Quynh; and 2 others behind the scenes) and they exceeded our expectations. They catered the cruise and stops to our preferences and made sure we felt safe. My boyfriend is a bit of a picky eater, so I vetted the menu and made some adjustments ahead of time...and the Chef did a wonderful job. The food was some of the best we had on our trip.
The boat was quaint and very well taken care of. It didnÕt look like much from afar, but once we boarded we noticed how beautiful it was. The crew was very respectful of our privacy and knew when to be present and when to simply let us enjoy the surroundings and experience. Our only regret is not booking the 2 night cruise! We heard good reviews from those who chose the multi-cabin cruises (~30+ staterooms depending on the boat)...but there is something to be said for having the whole boat and crew to yourself. It was extremely romantic and our most memorable Vietnam experience.
Would I recommend this cruise? Absolutely!!!
We booked a 2 night / 3 day cruise onboard LÕAzallee through Buffalo Tours.
We enjoyed the trip and the sights however we wished we had just done a day trip..
The food on board was okay but not great and the accommodation was the same. Our biggest issue was that the ship had mixed 1&2 night tour groups on which meant that you had to swap boats during the day to allow additional pick ups and we were put into a day cruise for our second day.
The drink prices were very, very high. We were lucky and checked the bar menu before ordering but there were people on board who got both a huge shock and bar bill. The cost of drinks is around 3 - 4 times what we paid in Hanoi. Be aware!!
We had hoped that a 2 night tour would give us a chance to see more of the bay and head further out but we found that we simply spent two nights moored alongside all of the other tourist boats. The day trips we did were around the same area and in my opinion, we should have spent additional time in Hanoi rather than queuing to climb steps to take a photo of a bay crowded with ships.
We enjoyed the tours but for what we saw it could have been squeezed into a day trip. It is an awesome place with breathtaking views and natural rock formations but is spoilt at time by crowded tourist areas and litter in the sea.
We visited Tam Coc, which is like a fresh water Halong Bay. In my opinion we found this better value and much nicer with less crowds.
Picked up on time from hotel and super drive to the boat. Everything was wonderful, the boat of very relaxing and the staff very attentive. Dan was our host on the boat who made our cruise even better! Made sure we had the best time! Room beautiful with en-suite and all the meals were delicious...Would highly recommend LÕAzalee cruises!
