Sapa is a fascinating place but we would recommend planning your trek before you get there and that's what we did with Sapa Sisters. That's not the only service they offer: we booked a transfer from the train station in Lao Cai. We'd arrived at 5.30am on the overnight train from Hanoi and were happy to be met, escorted to a minibus and transferred to their offices in Sapa where we were able to have breakfast and a shower. (check in at most hotels isn't until much later). Our trek was the following day. Our guide Ker discussed with us what sort of trek we'd like and where we could go before we set out. We opted for a 'medium' trek but she adapted the route as we went along to take account of our abilities, probably moving us onto the 'easy' route towards the end when my legs wouldn't stop shaking from all the irregular ups and downs! I walk a lot at home but live in a relatively flat area. We would love to go back and do a longer trek but would put in some training to strengthen the quads first. We were accompanied unofficially by two other ladies and two girls from the Hmong tribe. They chatted to us, helped us on the difficult bits and enriched our trek. We'd asked to have a home cooked lunch in a villager's house and they left us just before that. We purchased a few bits and pieces from them but there was no pressure to do so. Our lunch was simple and delicious, cooked over an open fire, eating with our guide and another guide and her two trekkers. It goes without saying that the scenery was great even though we were a little past the peak green in the rice fields. It was a very good day, with a fantastic guide, lots of laughter and we hope we'll be able to go back again and next time trek further.
Completed a three day trek with my guide Mi Sung. Had a fantastic time trekking from Sapa to Ban Ho. It was quite challenging in many parts but was exactly what I wanted. The home stays were excellent providing delicious food and hot showers.
My guide Mi Sung was fantastic taylor made the trek to suit exactly what I wanted. She was also excellent in giving me information and history about the region and Hmong people.
Sapa Sisters were fantastic to deal with right from booking up the day of the trek. They always kept me informed and replied immediately to any emails that I sent.
I gave no hesitation in recommending Sapa Sisters fir your trek in Sapa.
We booked our 2 day 1 night trek with Sapa Sisters and this was the best decision. They were great with communication before we arrived and the service was great throughout the trek. Our guide was Chai and she was informative and very helpful throughout the 2 days. The home stay was clean and had hot water. The dinner and breakfast was delicious. Chai even took us to her house to meet her husband and children which was lovely. Her house was really nice and built by her husband! Chai was very helpful looking after us along with her 2 helpers especially with my mum and carrying her bag. Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely recommend Sapa Sisters.
My husband and I had an amazing 3-days-trekking with our guide Sy. There is nothing we could desire more from this experience!
The itinerary was decided the 1st day together, taking into account our expectations. I really liked the fact that the Sapa Sisters guides are very flexible and they offer different options respecting every individual preference and level of fitness. An additional advantage is that the itinerary they propose can vary on a daily basis also depending on the weather condition which in Sapa can change very fast!
We spent our nights in 2 different homestays which were definitely well organized. There were always hot showers and good food waiting for us after the trekking!
I would definitely recommend our guide Sy for her knowledge of the territory, her friendliness and for the desire to share with us her culture and traditions. She cares so much about her guests and she is always ready to help in the most difficult parts of the trekking. Even if I am an expert excursionist in the Alps, I found sometimes tricky to trek in Sapa especially in the mud and under the rain. The presence of Sy next to me, made me enjoy the full experience.
There are many agencies organising trekking in Sapa, but Sapa Sisters guarantees an authentic experience and it is fair to the local guides who can earn fair salaries. If you want to support the local communities, this is definitely the best option!
Thank you Sapa Sisters and Thank you Sy.

Sapa sisters have been recommended to us by a friend that has already done a tour with them a few years ago. Doing this tour with them, and mainly with our sweet guide Ru, made of this, one of the best experiences we had in Vietname. Ru is an incredible young women and touched us by her kindness. She has also an amazing english and explained everyhting perfectly well. We had an amazing time doing the two days tour with her. I would also recommend to everyone to stay in Zao’s house. We have had the most incredible pancakes for breakfast and the view is absolutely stunning.
