This place has real charms - the multi-story wooden rooms are built around trees, so that the trunks and branches appear through the floorboards and balconies. As we arrived a mongoose wandered through the courtyard as if to greet us. And Tree House's location is excellent too - a literal minute's drive from the gate of Wilpatu National Park. We found Wilpatu the most thrilling of Sri Lanka's parks. We saw a basking leopard and a charging elephant! Wilpartu is also wonderfully empty of other jeeps.
The people and food at the Tree House were nice but the service was oddly lacking. Our rooms weren't cleaned during our stay and the food & drink bill was mysteriously padded. The electricity was out for a long time too, though that wasn't the Tree House's fault.
Friendly staff, basic buffet - but not surprising as small hotel numbers. Right next to Wilpattu so great place to go to Safari. Room clean and modern - great shower. Rooms built to look like tree houses. Great view from balcony.
Having been let down at our arranged hotel we were grateful to find any roof over heads for our 6 night stay. We had stayed here 2 years ago and were not impressed by the way the hotel was run so we were agreeably surprised by the way the hotel is now run. The new manager Manoj Perea went out of his way to help us out of our difficult situation for which we were most grateful. Because all the tree houses were already full we were housed in the main building which is still to be rejuvenated so the room was basic but the shower and air conditioning etc all worked well.
The staff were all keen to help and the food was excellent.
The Tree House is a great place to stay if you're visiting Wilpattu National Park. The Tree House is practically in the park and just steps away from the main entrance. We stayed on the top floor with the tree coming through our room. The room had two beds- one was a loft, a standard bathroom, mini fridge, kettle, water, etc. to make our stay comfortable. The room also had a great balcony for morning coffee and bird watching. We spotted lots of birds, including hornbills at the Tree House and tons of animals in the park. Staff are incredibly nice and accommodating and the food at the hotel restaurant was amazing.
Situated close to the Wilpattu National park entrance. Standard rooms have all the facilities and the only disappointment was the bathroom because the drainage cover was not fit and its kind of unpleasant view by comparing to the other facilities in the room
