I dives with Manta Rhei and dive master Echo the past three days. I’ve been to the Philippines, Borneo, and Thailand; and this dive shop and their staff are amazing. They’re knowledgeable about Komodo National Park and the nine dive sites delivered on the overall experience. My friend and I searched multiple dive shops and even the one recommended by our hotel. Their price was right and they presented an well organized itinerary for our three days of diving.
The boat was beautiful with a sun deck for lounging in between dives. The main area was also comfortable with cushioned seating. The crew was extremely helpful and everything was well organized.
Our day started with a welcome aboard briefing; then breakfast was served...delicious egg omelette on toast, fresh papayas, fresh squeezed OJ, donuts, and sweet breads. They are stocked with good tasting coffee, teas, carbonated drinks (cokes, coke light, soda water, tonic, and electrolytes). They also had motion sickness pills available. There are plenty of staff to cater to our needs. The ratio is a maximum of four divers to one dive master; but the most we had in my group was two. They do match the divers by certification and skills.
Our dive master, Echo made our made our experience great. He was patient and fun to talk to and learn about the area. His knowledge of the dive sites was incredible. I can’t really say anything bad about my interactions with him. There was no arrogance and he treated us with respect and care.
I plan to be back here in the near future and will be diving with them again. I highly recommend the them and will most definitely request Echo to guide us.
I have joined them for 3 days dive trips with Manta Rhei. Dive tour includes breakfast and lunch. They have good breakfast and also snacks after the first and last dive. Lunch is delicious too.
Boat crews were friendly and fun. Very helpful.
My dive guide Echo is very attentive and really take care of my group when anyone has any issue while diving. Good in finding macro creatures. The Micro diving is amazing.
Have fun with Manta Rhei and I have booked for their LOB on Sept this year!
Things to improve, maybe the breakfast can have more variety. Cheers!
I was in Flores for 3 days and booked a 2D1N trip with another company for the first two days, and a snorkeling trip with Manta Rhei on the 3rd day, so I can sort of compare. I'd also done short snorkeling trip with my hostel the first afternoon after arriving.
Manta Rhei has by far the nicest boat, it is very, very nice. The food was also amazing, one of the best breakfasts I've had on my trip, and the whole day there was so much variety, and delicious waffles and cake to top it off. The people were also very nice, communication beforehand and during the trip was excellent, and the whole crew was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Since I turned out to be the only snorkeler on board for most of the trip, I had my own private guide, who did a great job pointing out a bunch of turtles and a ray and such. We also saw some sharks at the first spot, unfortunately because of the very strong currents you couldn't really hang around and take a closer look at things, it was pretty much a drift snorkel at that point (which was pretty cool in its own right, lots of very big fish swimming by).
That's maybe my only point of critique: even though they took me to more sheltered spots than the divers, I felt that the snorkel spots were still not ideal compared to where I'd been the previous days. Things were mostly very far down (which for the rays and sharks is obviously normal), and even though I was in the water for quite long stretches of time, I felt like I didn't really have the opportunity to go explore on my own and to go looking for all sorts of little critters. But obviously it also depends on what you want to see, I did get to see some sharks, so I was pretty happy, I'd just been spoiled the days before in terms of wildlife.
All in all, I would definitely recommend Manta Rhei, it was a really nice experience and honestly, it'd be worth it for the food and the boat alone ;)
We had an incredible diving day tour across the best diving sites of the area. Our instructor Lolita was just perfect showed us a lot of little marine creatures some very rare, each dive was totally different and we experienced drift diving for the first time and we even had the chance to meet an eagle ray and a shark! The boat is one of the most comfy diving boat I've seen with lot of chill areas with sofas etc the food was really good and the boat crew very thoughtful and funny! I totally recommend this diving center it has a lot of pros that differentiate it from other diving center I ve seen in south east asia. Thanks again for the journey and hope to see you again soon
I spent two days doing my advanced open water with Manta Rhei, completing six dives. The whole experience was incredible from start to finish. The staff are very professional and extremely knowledgable. The diving in Komodo national park is unbelievable, we saw rays, sharks and turtles on most dives amongst much, much more. The boat they operate is very comfortable, complete with bean bags and mattresses for chilling after your dives. They spoil you with breakfast and lunch as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day. I cannot recommend these guys highly enough, look no further than them for your next diving experience. I will 100% be back as soon as I get the chance. Thank you so much!
