Real rural Vietnam: cycle, farm, fish & cook with locals at your pace
If you’ve ever been curious about how Vietnamese farmers and fishermen live off the land, this immersive countryside cycling tour is a perfect way to experience it first-hand. You'll ride through peaceful backroads to visit traditional farming and fishing villages, get your hands dirty in local gardens, try out time-honoured fishing techniques, and learn how rice goes from paddy to pancake. It’s all about connecting with the land and the people — no frills, just real experiences.Where most tours just show you the scenery, this one invites you to be part of it. At Tra Que Vegetable Village — where locals grow the herbs and greens that give Hoi An’s iconic dishes their signature flavour — you’ll help fertilise the soil with seaweed, plant vegetables and water the crops using traditional hand tools. Then, while most visitors pass through the nearby coconut palm forest just for photos, you’ll go deeper, joining real fishing activities like casting nets and catching crabs alongside local fishermen. It’s a rare peek into the daily lives of rural Vietnamese communities, all at a slow, relaxed cycling pace. This is a great choice for travellers who want something more than just sightseeing — especially those who enjoy cycling, nature, and learning by doing. It’s family-friendly, culturally rich, and full of small, authentic moments that big-group tours just can’t offer. What to ExpectScenic cycling through quiet country roads, rice fields, and river pathsA hands-on farming experience at Tra Que Village — learn to fertilise, plant and water crops the traditional wayTra Que Village is where ingredients for classic Hoi An dishes like cao lau and fresh herb salads are grownVisit a fishing village and try net-casting and crab catching with locals in a coconut palm forestRow a traditional round bamboo basket boat through the lush nipa palm waterwaysLearn every step of rice processing — from husking to grinding to cookingWatch (and try) making crispy rice pancakes with your Seek Sophie host’s wifeEnjoy a fresh, home-cooked lunch made from local ingredientsGood to KnowSuitable for all fitness levels — cycling route is flat and easy to manageVegetarian-friendly — just let your host know in advanceGreat for families and travellers who love hands-on experiences

Meet your host

Hoang made a big life change in 2014, swapping his career in civil engineering for something much closer to home—literally. After years of working on construction sites across Vietnam, often far from his family, he chose to start fresh in Hoi An's growing tourism scene. What makes Hoang stand out is his genuine love for connecting with people and sharing his hometown’s stories. He enjoys showing visitors what makes Vietnam special through local experiences and simple, meaningful moments. Since making the switch, he’s found real joy in welcoming travellers and helping them feel at home in Hoi An.
