Cook with locals and explore Sasak traditions in lush Lombok countryside
This isn't just about food—it's a slow, hands-on experience guided by local Sasak women who grew up cooking these family recipes. You’ll pick your own ingredients straight from the organic garden and cook the old-school way—on a traditional firewood stove, outdoors, surrounded by nature.Alongside cooking, you'll also be introduced to the customs and daily rituals of Sasak life, like sipping tubruk coffee, learning about sarongs and betel nut traditions, and hearing stories passed down through the village. This is perfect for curious travellers who want to gain a deeper understanding of local life, not just learn a few recipes. It's also a meaningful way to support local women and help preserve heritage that could otherwise disappear. Come hungry, come curious—you’ll leave full in every sense of the word. What to ExpectHarvest your own ingredients from a peaceful organic gardenCook two veggie dishes, two protein dishes, and a traditional dessert over open fireUse age-old kitchen tools and techniques passed down through generationsLearn about Sasak traditions like betel nut, sarongs, and tubruk coffeeEnjoy a communal meal at the farmGood to KnowThis is a join-in experience that lasts around 2.5 hours-3 hoursNo prior cooking experience needed—it's beginner-friendly and relaxedAccommodation is available but must be booked in advanceComes with recipes to take home so you can recreate the flavoursTransport are not included (transport can be added on)Add-On: Farmstay BungalowsExtend your visit with a night in the wooden bungalows overlooking the lush farm. Meet your host

Sutikno and his wife, Anne-Sophie, started their journey in Lombok back in 2013. They returned to Indonesia after years abroad where they worked in development agencies in countries as far flung as Mali and Laos. They were ready to settle down and without even seeing the land first, they bought it to help someone in a medical emergency. What they got was dry, rocky ground—but they rolled up their sleeves and slowly transformed it into a thriving farm using regenerative practices. Over the years their kindness extends far beyond growing vegetables on the farm — they now share their sustainable permaculture farming knowledge widely with community in hopes that they can improve farming practices across the island, allowing the soil to regenerate from decades of monocropping. They also work to empower local women, who face child marriage and domestic violence in northern Lombok, by giving them meaningful employment and teaching them English. Their cup is always overflowing with love and care for their community.
