Private 4D3N cruise on one of the comfiest klotoks + better wildlife spotting.
This is one of the best-run private orangutan cruises in Tanjung Puting National Park — designed for better wildlife spotting, better food, and a more comfortable boat than most. All the klotoks in Tanjung Puting look the same from the outside. But this boat has one of the best onboard setups you’ll find on the river (outside of the premium AC boats). Most klotoks just have a mattress that doubles as everything - so you’re lounging, sweating and sleeping all in the same space. Here, you actually have a proper day area and night area. There’s a shaded lounge with a couch where you can relax comfortably in the heat — even when you’re sweaty — and at night, it’s converted into a clean sleeping space with fresh bedsheets. It sounds like a small thing, but over 4 days, you really feel the difference. There are also sun loungers, a large dining table, and thoughtful touches that make the whole experience more liveable - like plenty of snacks, fresh juices, universal plugs, and a water dispenser (so no plastic bottles, unlike most other boats).Food is another standout here. If you’re vegetarian, this is one of the few hosts with a dedicated vegetarian chef - so meals are varied, generous and actually enjoyable (not the usual plain fallback you get on most klotoks). This boat is also better run from a wildlife spotting perspective. Most klotoks rush between feeding stations, and you miss a lot of wildlife along the way. Here, the boat moves slowly along the river, so you actually spot proboscis monkeys, hornbills and other wildlife along the way - perfect for wildlife lovers and photographers. What makes this extra meaningful is the conservation angle. Your host, Yomie, is a former teacher and eco-tourism advocate who brings a lot of context to what you’re seeing. You’ll also plant a tree as part of a reforestation effort, helping restore food sources for orangutans long-term.What to ExpectPrivate 4D3N klotok cruise deep into the rainforestSlow cruising for better wildlife sightings (not rushed)Visit Camp Leakey + 2 other feeding stationsSpot wildlife along the river (not just at feedings)Yummy food (and if you're a vegetarian - they have a dedicated vegetarian chef!)Freshly cooked meals, snacks, juices dailyComfortable boat setup (couch + lounge + loungers)Guided jungle treks with local expertsEvening firefly cruise (weather permitting)Amenities/facilitiesTraditional wooden riverboat (klotok) with open-air jungle viewsWater dispenser on board (no plastic water bottles!) Meet your host
Yomie Kamale is a high school teacher, licensed guide, and long-time host based in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan. For over ten years, he’s been welcoming travellers to explore the rainforest and wildlife of Tanjung Puting. Yomie runs riverboat tours that are as much about learning and connection as they are about adventure — from spotting orangutans to meeting local communities. He works closely with a small local crew and ensures every guest plants a tree as part of a growing reforestation effort. Kind yet firm, Yomie’s also involved in community work, guiding new tour operators, and advising on eco-tourism issues. He genuinely cares — about the forest, the people, and the stories shared along the way.
