Orangutan Houseboat Tour
Fardi is a pioneer of community-based tourism in Tanjung Puting. He started out as a hotel housekeeper and slowly worked his way up, eventually running his own boats and building one of the most respected operations on the Sekonyer River.
His journey is deeply personal. After losing his father during the Dayak–Madurese conflict in the early 2000s, Fardi chose to stay in his hometown and rebuild, creating work for his community. Today he hires locally from nearby villages, mentoring crew who have grown into guides, captains and even boat owners.
Fardi also founded Yayasan Orangutan Hijau Kalimantan (YOHK), a local conservation foundation that buys back rainforest land to protect wild orangutan habitat and prevent palm oil expansion. By joining his trip, you’re directly supporting orangutan conservation in Tanjung Puting.
