Khao Sok’s most memorable jungle adventure with top jungle guides
If you’re curious about jungles but not quite ready to sleep in one, this is the perfect way to get a proper taste of wild Thailand. Experience the jungle like never before with this unique day-to-night adventure in Khao Sok – no camping required! You'll hike to a hidden waterfall, cook dinner using bamboo over an open fire, and end the day with a magical night walk through the forest. What makes this experience really special is your guide. This experience is led by Jaja and his small team of expert jungle guides. Jaja isn’t just any jungle guide. He grew up here and was trained in hunting and jungle survival by his father when he was just 9 years old. He can even smell the air and tell which animal has just passed. Despite once being known as one of Khao Sok’s most skilled hunters, Jaja chose to protect the animals he loves, dedicating his life to conservation and sharing jungle knowledge instead.Today, Jaja works closely with a trusted team of local guides, personally training them in the same survival skills, tracking techniques, and deep respect for the forest. While Jaja may not personally guide every trip, all guides follow his methods and standards, ensuring an authentic, high-quality jungle experience — while also supporting local livelihoods and conservation efforts. If you're after something more meaningful than a run-of-the-mill tour – something that truly connects you to the heart of Khao Sok – this one’s for you. This experience is best for curious travellers who want an authentic, hands-on jungle adventure, without crowds or rushing. Whether you're into plants, wildlife, or simply want to try cooking with bamboo over a bonfire, you’ll love this low-key, immersive afternoon. What to ExpectStart with a scenic 3km jungle trek led by expert local guides trained by Jaja, learning survival skills passed down through generations.Cool off with a dip at Bang Hua Rat Waterfall – it’s peaceful, refreshing, and a great reward after the hike.Join a hands-on jungle cooking session using bamboo and traditional techniques. Yes, you really cook your dinner in the wild!Enjoy a delicious feast under the fading light of the day, surrounded by nature. As night falls, head out for a guided wildlife safari to spot nocturnal creatures in their natural habitat – from glowing eyes in the dark to rare jungle residents like civets and langurs.Good to KnowBring 200 THB in cash for Khao Sok National Park’s entrance fee – not included in the tour price and subject to change.Wear lightweight but sturdy shoes for the hike, and drink plenty of water. This is a private trip, so it'll just be your group with Jaja – no big tour groups here.Pick-up is free if you're staying within 10km of Khao Sok National Park (small additional fee for further locations).Don’t worry about equipment – head torches and water are included. You will lose phone signal completely once you enter the deep forest. We recommend informing anyone you need to contact before starting the hike. For women on their period: Kindly bring a small bag for pad disposal, as there may not be suitable bins along the trail.Follow your guide's lead and stick to “Leave No Trace” principles to keep Khao Sok beautiful. The 3km jungle hike is beginner-friendly but does involve some uneven terrain, so a moderate level of mobility is helpful. There are breaks along the way and plenty of chances to cool off and take it slow, especially at the waterfalls. It’s more about the experience than rushing to the finish line!

Meet your host

Jaja was born in Khao Sok, where his father was one of the rainforest’s most respected hunters. From the age of nine, Jaja learned how to track animals, read the jungle, and survive in the wild. He eventually became one of Khao Sok’s most skilled hunters himself. But the more time he spent in the forest, the more he realised he loved the animals he was hunting. He didn’t want to kill them anymore. Today, with 18 years of guiding experience, Jaja leads travellers through the rainforest, sharing his extraordinary jungle knowledge. He has also trained a team of former hunters to become guides — creating sustainable jobs that protect Khao Sok instead of harming it.
