Now I understand why a piece of traditional hand-weaved silk can cost as much as RM80k. The deaign has to be weaved into the fabric thread by thread, all by hand without any electrical powered machinery. And it can takes a master weaver more than a year to complete. Weaving is beyond creating something practical, it's an artform and also a living artifact that speaks of our rich culture.

Ms. Umang provided an excellent tour and explanation of the weaving techniques used by the artisans. I was captivated by their culture and would love to visit again if I return to Kuching, Sarawak with my friends to show a glimpse of Sarawakians culture 🤗
