The main attraction is the three crater lakes, famous for their changing colors. Witnessing sunrise over them is magical.
Best Time to Go
Dry season (May-Sept) is ideal. Aim for sunrise for the best light on the crater lakes and fewer crowds.
Who is it for?
Kelimutu is accessible for everyone. It's a super short and easy 20 to 30-min hike from the carpark to the viewpoint. It's also safe (even at sunrise!) for solo female travellers.
Top Tips
Tickets are valid for 24 hours – buy before sunrise so if you don’t get a good view, you can return the next morning (within 24 hours) to have another go at seeing the sunrise.
