What is Fort Canning Park, and what are some of its main attractions?

Fort Canning Park is a historic park located in the heart of Singapore (just behind Orchard Road!) and is known for its rich history and lovely green spaces. It's a lot quieter compared to more well-known parks like Botanic Gardens, and to us just as beautiful with its towering giant trees.

Some of the park's main attractions include the Fort Canning Centre, which houses a range of exhibitions and events related to Singapore's history, and the Battlebox, an underground bunker that played a critical role in the defense of Singapore during World War II. The park is also home to several walking trails, historic sites, and outdoor performance spaces. In summer, Shakespeare in the Park is frequently performed here!

Can I visit Fort Canning Park with children, and are there any family-friendly activities available?

Yes, Fort Canning Park is a great destination for families with children. In addition to the park's historic sites and natural beauty, there are several family-friendly activities available, such as puzzle hunts which is a great way to learn about the park's history and explore it at the same time. The park also features a playground and a water play area that are popular with children.

How can I get to Fort Canning Park, and what should I bring with me?

Fort Canning Park is easily accessible by public transportation, with several MRT stations located nearby, including the Dhoby Ghaut, Clarke Quay, and Bras Basah stations. It's also possible to reach the park by bus or taxi. When preparing for a visit to Fort Canning Park, it's important to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, as there is a fair amount of walking involved. Sunscreen, a hat, and water are also important to stay protected from the sun and hydrated during your visit. If you plan to visit the park's historic sites or attend an event, be sure to check the park's website for schedules and ticket information.
