Review Body: Beautiful spot in the national park with a couple of different options to stay. I had the floating capsule hotel. While it looked cool and had a great view and swim platform you did hear other guests walking along the planking bark and forth between the toilets and going for food to drinks. When it was quiet it was absolutely sublime. Food included and was very good and lots of it.

Review Body: A superb location with good size rooms and a friendly bar area. Use of kayaks and swimming in the lake means there was plenty to do in between the jungle safaris and local visits. The blue colour of the water is magical and the sunset spectacular. Take advantage of the jungle safaris as well.

Review Body: The room was decent but for short stay no problem at all. The bathroom is shared. The most important thing is the location and it is gorgeous 🤩 can't stress that enough. There is swimming and kayaking options. The food is also good!

Review Body: Had a wonderful overnight stay at Phutawan Raft House. We left from Patong Beach and where dropped off at their office not far from the National park where you catch the boat from. The journey was easy and stress free. The raft house Was perfect for overnight with 3 amazing meals provided just had to buy our own drinks . They sold alcohol at very reasonable prices . Loved their Long Island cocktail and beer is ice cold or you can have a fresh fruit juice. The capsule room accommodation was perfect with a fan but thankfully there was a nice cool breeze coming off the water which made it easy to sleep. We did the tours provided and enjoyed every minute. The hike to the cave isn't too far but it can get quite steep and the uneven ground may make the treck a little more difficult. Make sure you are in pretty good shape and wear shoes that are suitable probably not thongs . The staff where very attentive, always smiling . The bathroom was separate but not too far away ,very clean with hot showers . Overall it was a fabulous experience and would highly recommend spending the night or a few days here . There is enough to do if u want to keep busy by doing different tours and activities or just to relax. You can just stay and swim or take out the kayaks if you prefer.

Get ready for a nature experience combining jungle trekking, bamboo rafting, and cave exploration! To reach Coral Cave, you’ll first embark on a 30-40 minute jungle trek through a scenic forest trail. This easy hike is suitable for all fitness levels, offering a chance to walk under towering bamboo groves and lush rainforest canopies while soaking in the natural beauty of the area. After the trek, hop onto a bamboo raft for a 10-minute ride along a peaceful waterway, surrounded by limestone cliffs and serene jungle views. Once you arrive at the cave entrance, you’ll step inside for a 20-minute exploration of the fascinating underground world. Inside Coral Cave, you’ll discover stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over millions of years, resembling coral structures. The cave is also home to fossils of single-celled marine creatures embedded in the limestone, estimated to be 250–400 million years old! There is no English speaking guide on the boat, the boat drivers can give basic information and instruction. The boat tour is a join-in session with other guests. 05:00 PM : Arrived back at the rafthouse. Your may spend your free time to cool off with a swim in the crystal-clear waters or paddle out on a kayak to explore at your own pace. 06:30 PM : Savor a delicious Thai meal as the sun sets behind the limestone cliffs. Slow down on a peaceful night floating on Cheow Lan Lake
This Cheow Lan Lake option is great if you are looking to relax and enjoy the lake atmosphere. It does include two boat rides which are focused on enjoying the views rather than wildlife sightings. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy water activities near the rafthouse such as swimming and kayaking. The included afternoon trip takes you past Khao Sam Kloe, often called the Guilin of Thailand, then on by bamboo raft and a short forest walk to Coral Cave. Inside, the limestone formations look like underwater coral, and there are marine fossils estimated to be 250–400 million years old.The private capsule room is simple, with a fan and lake breeze at night, and the 3 home-style meals are a real highlight in guest reviews. It suits easygoing travellers who want to enjoy a peaceful overnight on the lake rather than tick activity boxes. What to Expect1-night stay in a private capsule room on a floating raft house3 local meals included: lunch, dinner, and breakfastJoin-in longtail boat transfer to the rafthouseAfternoon trip to Khao Sam Kloe and Coral CaveBamboo rafting and a short jungle walk to reach the caveFree time for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and relaxing at the raft houseEarly morning boat cruise before breakfastReturn to the pier around 10:30am–11:00am on Day 2Good to KnowNo English-speaking guide, so this is better for independent travelers who are comfortable without detailed commentary (boat drivers can speak basic English and can provide basic information).Staff at the raft speak basic English, it is recommended to have translation app installed locally since the raft can have poor/unstable cellular coverage. There is no wifi provided. The generator only works from 6 pm to 6 am, it is recommended to bring your power bank along.Foreign travellers pay the 540THB per person for national park entrance fee separately (cash only).Groups of 2–4 may share the boat with other guests.Kayak or canoe paddles require a 200THB deposit (cash only).About the RafthouseFan-cooled capsule rooms can feel warm in the middle of the day, but usually cool down at night with the lake breeze. There is no en-suite bathroom, shared bathrooms are at convenient locations.Electricity is limited and only available during the night from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am in the morning. There is not wifi and cellular coverage is no stable. Please take this chance to truly disconnect and immerse yourself in nature.Know before you bookPlease read all the details carefully to ensure this trip meets your expectations!Who this is for: For travellers that want to enjoy the lake vibes and don't mind rustic accommodation. For guests who are looking for a more comfy stay and private tour, we recommend to check out some of our other options.High season crowds: Peak season brings big crowds. On top of overnight guests, outside tourists also drop by the raft house during mealtimes just for the food, then head off which makes the restaurant crowded. This setup suits backpackers who don't mind the buzz and enjoy mingling with fellow travelers.Mealtimes: Everyone eats together on the same schedule, so the shared living space gets busy and lively at meal times as guests gather to eat as a group.Language barrier: Your guide will be a local long-tail boat driver/staff member with basic English. They can handle simple instructions and basic info, but don't expect detailed explanations about the area or sharp-sighted wildlife spotting.Park fees: Khao Sok National Park entrance and pier fees aren't included in the price — budget roughly 540THB per adult and 270THB per child, in cash only. Rates can shift based on park policy, so bring enough cash to cover it.Crowds in high season (Nov–Mar): Expect to be part of a larger group. Since the lake only has a limited number of trails and caves, day-trippers and overnight guests all end up exploring the same spots.Jungle trek: The trail crosses streams in places, so wet shoes are likely. Leeches are common too, especially after rain — closed shoes and high socks are strongly recommended. The itinerary may change or be canceled depending on local conditions and weather. There is only one round of included boat transfer per day, and guests will need meet up at 10:00 a.m. nearby Chiew Lan Lake entrance (see the meet up point below). If you think you may not reach the pier on time, you can add a private boat transfer for late arrivals in the add-on(s) section.Logistics and meeting pointIf you are travelling with a suit case or a large backpack, you may not be able to bring it to the raft house due to limited space on the boat. We suggested you to bring small backpack for your overnight lake trip. A waterproof backpack is recommended to protect your belongings from water splashes during the boat trip or sudden rain. You have 2 options to store your bags:You can store with your host at the checkin point (10 minutes away from the Pier) and retrieve when you come backIf you are traveling to another destination, your host can arrange your transfer and have the driver bring your bag to you

Ka and Pae are the kind of hosts who genuinely care about creating something meaningful. Back in 2006, they built a small retreat on Cheow Lan Lake—not just for visitors to stay, but to truly unwind and feel part of nature. What started with 8 floating houses and a canteen has grown into a welcoming spot with 32 cosy units, all thoughtfully placed to keep the lake’s peaceful charm intact. They’re not just focused on guests, either. Ka and Pae regularly lend a hand to local schools, youth sports, and community events, quietly making a difference behind the scenes.
