Review Body: All five points! It was my treasure discovery in Shangri-La! The tent environment is spotless, the service of the B&B companions is very good, the dinner and breakfast are very delicious, and the scrambled eggs for breakfast are the most delicious I have had in many years of traveling. In the B&B, you can drink homemade wines from all over Yunnan. We tried the one named after the boss's daughter, it was great! I think the boss is doing something with all his heart, creating a relaxing, warm and cozy inn in Shangri-La for travelers! On the day of departure, all the friends in the B&B saw me off, I was very touched! If I have the chance, I would like to go back and live there.

Review Body: A perfect experience! Our family of four booked a three-day, two-night Tibetan-style king-size room and a hiking and horseback riding itinerary. The rooms and public spaces are very distinctive, the French dinner is excellent, and the experience of riding through the primeval forest is especially unforgettable. The scenery along the way is beautiful, and we felt the pristine nature and the unpredictable beauty of the climate. My 15-year-old eldest son and my 5-year-old youngest son both miss me when they came back! Thank you very much to the housekeeper Lan Yu, the guide Lu Ke, and the beautiful chef, auntie, etc. Your peaceful smile touches our hearts.

Review Body: For my last night in Shangri-La, I chose to stay at Liuda Farm, and I absolutely loved the ambiance. William and Summer shared so many stories with us about the brand and the muleteers. Everyone here was incredibly kind, warm, and welcoming ❤️. The breakfast was plentiful, and for dinner, we had a yak hotpot at the farm which was exceptionally delicious—every piece of meat was large and substantial. The two of us ate until we were completely full, and we're still thinking about it, haha! 🥰 So grateful for this encounter! Looking forward to seeing you again next time ^_^

Review Body: The stay was extremely comfortable, and the environment was wonderful. The courtyard was a great place to relax, and there's a temple nearby called Tenpo-ji. Although the tent rooms shared toilets and showers, everything was very clean, and everything you needed was there. I usually travel on a budget when I travel solo, so I don't book particularly expensive accommodations, but this place was excellent value for money. I'd definitely come back next time!

Review Body: The stay was very comfortable. You can see the sheep outside the window while lying in bed. The fireplace was cool. It was nice to walk around. The food was delicious, especially the yak hotpot. The beef was very tender, the dipping sauce was very good, and the wine was also delicious. The staff are very friendly and the boss is very nice.

Review Body: Without Constantin's love for the land, we wouldn't have been able to witness such a top-notch presentation of the fusion of local culture and the spirit of adventure. Thank you! It was a wonderful two nights. I'll definitely go caravanning next time I have the chance!

Review Body:

Review Body: I stayed in a tent this time, and I thought it would be cold, but it wasn't cold at all. It was a unique experience. What I'll never forget is coming out of the tent at night to a sky full of stars, where all I could hear was my own breathing and the sound of horses grazing. There's a beautiful grassland down from the farm, and the breakfast was delicious. For me, the experience was more than enough. That night on the grassland will forever remain in my heart.

A nomadic horse caravan inspired by ancient expeditions, with luxury glamping
This is probably the coolest way to experience Shangri-La’s ancient Tea Horse Road. For 3D2N, you’ll travel across the Tibetan highlands the way caravans once did — with horses and mules carrying your entire camp through the mountains. It feels like an old expedition, except you finish each day in heated glamping tents with proper beds and a hot dinner. It’s one of the most extraordinary ways we’ve found to experience Shangri-La.For centuries, the Tea Horse Road connected Yunnan and Tibet through a network of mountain trails. Before roads or cars, caravans carried tea, food and other goods across these valleys and mountain passes on horseback and muleback. This journey lets you experience a little of how that travel actually worked. The style of the expedition is also inspired by early Himalayan explorers such as Joseph Rock, Jacques Bacot and Louis Liotard.Over three days, you’ll cover around 31km through Ringha Valley, Monk Grassland and Dabosi Valley, crossing huge grasslands, valleys and yak-filled mountains and sleeping somewhere different each night. That’s what makes this so different from a normal trek or glamping stay - you’re actually travelling through the landscape as a moving caravan. And it’s not just a recreation of the Tea Horse Road for tourists. You’ll travel with local Tibetan guides, cooks and mule handlers whose communities have used horses and mules to move through these mountains for generations. The journey is built around knowledge and skills that still exist here today, while also creating seasonal income for local families. It’s expensive, but there’s also a huge amount that goes into making it possible — horses and mules, handlers, guides, cooks, food, tents, beds and equipment all moving through the mountains and being set up somewhere new every night. If you love the Tea Horse Road history but don’t need the full moving-caravan experience, this 3D2N journey is a more affordable option. You’ll explore the old trails during the day, then return to the same Tibetan farmhouse each night. What to Expect3D2N moving caravan expeditionTravel around 31km across the highlandsFollow the spirit of the Tea Horse RoadCamp somewhere different each nightHeated bell tents with proper bedsHorses & mules carry camp equipmentHuge grasslands, forests & yak herdsMount Sikha views from the high passPicnic lunches carried by the caravanLocal Tibetan guides, cooks & handlersOptional horse riding on parts of the routeShangri-La hotel transfers includedGood to KnowExpect around 3–5 hours of walking daily. This small local team is based in a remote, high-altitude region in northwestern Yunnan, close to the Tibetan Plateau. Known for its dramatic mountain landscapes and strong Tibetan cultural influence, the area has long been shaped by ancient trade routes and generations of mountain communities. The project was founded in 2010 by a French writer and traveller after years spent exploring this remarkable region and retracing its historic expedition routes. The idea behind the experiences is to share these mountains in a way that respects both the environment and local communities, while creating opportunities for people living in these remote valleys. Inspired by the ancient Tea Horse caravan routes, the journeys combine genuine wilderness exploration with comfort in the outdoors. A mule caravan carries camping equipment and supplies, making it possible to enjoy freshly prepared meals and comfortable camps even at high altitudes, while remaining closely connected to the landscapes, local culture and slower pace of life.
