Review Body: This is one of my favourite trips ever!! Sumba is truly so beautiful - a balance of blue and green scenery, with waterfalls, hills, and gorgeous lagoons. There was almost no other tourists around when we were there, which was a huge plus for me. The locals were also genuinely friendly, which really warmed my heart.
We visited East and West Sumba with this Seek Sophie Itinerary, and I loved both.
The East truly shined with the Palindi Piarakuku Hills. Perfect weather (even though we went during rainy season) with vast landscapes unlike anything else we saw. The best part? We had the entire place to ourselves! However, the spots in the East were quite far apart, and the winding roads made the road trip nauseous for me because I get motion sick very easily.
Weekuri Lagoon was the highlight on the West side. We practically had this stunning lagoon paradise all to ourselves. The photo opps were endless.
Special shoutout to our amazing guides Son and Ino! Son deserves special praise for his cultural insights. He'd prepare us for each village visit, explaining proper etiquette (like politely browsing offered items or acknowledging photo requests from children). He also customised our itinerary based on our love for photography, suggesting the best times to visit locations for the best lighting conditions/suggesting the best angles. He even offered the front passenger seat for me when I was feeling pukey, which I really appreciated!
Tips: Go during dry season (May-Sep) because the rainy season weather wasn't always cooperative when we went in April. Be sure to bring extras like umbrellas, portable fans, and sunscreen – the sun is no joke!

Review Body: I've always wanted to visit Sumba ever since I knew it was so remote and beautiful, and I'm so glad that I finally got it. It was such an amazing and special trip to one of the most beautiful places in Indonesia!
The highlight was definitely our incredible guide, Son. He was incredibly patient and flexible, giving us more time to explore the places that we really loved. He even adjusted the itinerary on the go, based on our preferences and the weather. He also had some hidden gems, like finding a secluded lagoon when we didn't feel like going to the beach. The lagoon itself was absolutely breathtaking! We had the whole place to ourselves, with water so blue it seemed unreal.
The food throughout the trip was delicious, but more importantly, clean and safe. Staying hydrated was a breeze thanks to the constant supply of water in the car. Safety was always a priority, and Son did an amazing job keeping us feeling secure.
But what truly made this road trip special was getting to know Sumba's culture and traditions deeper. We weren't just following a tourist trail; we visited local communities and gained a deeper understanding of their ancient culture. It wasn't just about snapping photos, but about genuinely connecting and bringing back a piece of their story with us.

Review Body: This Sumba adventure was an unforgettable experience. Son stands out as the best tour guide I've ever had on any trip. His passion and knowledge of the island, its culture, and traditions were unmatched. He could explain anything in depth, from the history of a landmark to the intricacies of the Sumbanese custom.
Safety and well-being were always a priority, with Son constantly checking in on us. But what truly impressed me was his ability to adapt the itinerary to our interests. We loved everything we saw, from the breathtaking natural beauty to the rich cultural experiences. The sunsets over the rolling hills were simply magical.
The scenic drives themselves were an adventure, winding through green plateaus and offering breathtaking vistas. Having a guide like Son who was great at taking photos was a bonus – he knew exactly where to position us for the most stunning shots.
The food throughout the trip was delicious, and the interactions with locals were truly special. We weren't just passing through villages; we were making connections, even being invited into one of the local homes to learn firsthand about their customs and culture.

Review Body: The highlight of the trip was definitely the Lagoon. We went swimming, jumped in, and could walk around the boardwalk to get a bird's eye view of the lagoon and see where it meets the sea. Lots of great photo opps too! It's the kind of place I could have easily spent the entire day exploring (assuming it stays uncrowded!).
I also appreciated having Son, our guide, who has good photography skills, as he was able to capture those perfect shots for us.
There were some requests for money in the villages in the West, which made me a bit uncomfortable, but it's because the locals there are more used to seeing tourists. The villages in the East are a lot more authentic, and I much preferred that.
Also, be prepared for humidity at certain spots – an umbrella is a lifesaver! Ultimately, though, the trip is all about who you travel with. Bring the best group of friends and Sumba is easily a perfect 10/10 experience!

I highly recommend spending at least 3 days exploring West Sumba .
I would especially like to recommend our driver and guide, Itto. He was not only our driver but also an excellent guide and local companion. He knows the island very well, shared his personal experience, and discussed many interesting facts about local life and Murapi culture with us.
Itto speaks excellent English and is an honest, kind, and open-minded young man. He helped us with any questions we had and showed us all the most interesting places in Sumba.
I recommend Itto 100% and Seek Sophie agency to everyone!

Review Body: Sumba Island tours was quick to respond and help organise what I'd like to see. They let me know that my driver didn't speak much English, but Johny was great! We listened to music while driving which was nice and he even let me share some of my music with him and he played some local music for me. I am a bit shy so I didn't mind not talking the entire time. The places we stopped were amazing, even in the wet season! The tour included a stop at a local resto for food and eating by the beach.

Review Body: From our cruise. we had one day in Waingapu. We chose Sumba Adventure Tours for our private tour on the island. The driver and host picked us up on time. The host was sweet and attentive. As we are culture-oriented travelers, they gladly took us to a neighborhood with a craft shop and a local museum. The host showed us around Waingapu and the surrounding area. It was fascinating to observe life on the island, and the private tour helped us make the most of our brief visit to the Island.

Review Body: We had Ino as our tour in Sumba and it was a fantastic experience! We spent 4 days visiting the entire island with him and learnt so much about the Sumbanese culture. He accommodated all of our requests and informed us at all times about the itinerary we were following. Also, we was very clear about possible weather conditions and ensured we were safe and modified the schedule if needed.
We 100% recommend booking this tour!

Review Body: Sumba is an exceptional place and relatively untouched by mass tourism- drive Jony and guide Deny looked well after me for 5 days whilst we explored Sumba from East to West.
Jony was an excellent driver and Deny in a flexible way would decide on our destinations ranging from waterfalls to Ikat weaving in the marapu villages

Review Body: Do not recommend Seek Sophie in Sumba. We were over charged and the quality of the service was very poor. We paid for accommodation and meals for the driver and he stayed every night at his house. Our first driver did not speak any English and there was no AC in his dirty vehicle. Our second driver did not know where he was going and his phone did not work. We realized it would have been better to rent a car or have the resorts/hotels organize transportation for you. Much more economical and they know where they are going.
