Reconnect with the earth through mud-building, mindfulness & eco-dyeing
If you’re looking to reconnect with yourself and the natural world around you - this grounding Chiang Mai retreat is made for you.Held at an earth house tucked away from the city, you’ll spend the day learning earthen home-building with mud, rice husk, and bamboo and experimenting with natural dyes to create your own scarf. All workshops are hands-on so be prepared to get a little muddy - it’s all part of reconnecting with nature and even with the childlike side of ourselves! Take a moment to slow down with silent walking and heart-centred meditation, and as the day ends, gather under the trees for soulful music and a singing circle. This retreat was started by Seek Sophie host Adul, who after seeing the burden of home loans and debt, wanted a simpler way living. He built his first house with mud and local materials, using only his own hands and no debt. Since then, Adul has grown his own food, dyed his own clothes, and cared for his health with traditional medicine. Thoughtful and grounded, he now shares this way of life with visitors, showing that a more meaningful, low-impact, and connected life is possible. If you have more time, we highly recommend doing the extended 3D2N retreat where you really get to slow down and immerse yourself in the farmstay. What to ExpectLearn earthen home-building techniques using natural materials like mud, rice husk, and bambooTry natural dyeing and tie-dye to create your very own eco-friendly scarfPractice silent walking meditation, followed by a heart-based guided seated meditationEnd the day with a soulful music and singing circle surrounded by natureLunch, fresh fruits and drinks are provided throughout the dayTransport from and back to Chiang Mai Old City includedGood to KnowAll workshops are hands-on—be prepared to get your clothes and feet a little muddy!Suitable for all fitness levels, but do wear comfy footwear and clothes you don’t mind getting dirtyYou’ll need to bring your own fabric or clothing item for the natural dye sessionIf you're staying outside of Chiang Mai Old City, transport is not includedNo accommodation is providedThe terrain is flat and easy to walk around, although you’ll be standing or sitting on the floor for some workshop sessions, so bring a water bottle and wear something breathable for the heat. Meet your host

Adul started his journey nearly 20 years ago with a simple question—can we live well without falling into long-term debt? Inspired by people in his community burdened by home loans, he decided to build his own house using earth and local materials. That first home, built with his own hands and no debt, set the tone for everything that followed. Since then, Adul has grown his own food, dyed his own clothes, and taken care of his health with traditional medicines. He now shares this way of life with others—welcoming visitors to learn about sustainable living, slow living, and self-reliance. Thoughtful and grounded, Adul quietly shows that a more meaningful, low-impact life really is possible.
