Cage-free dog cuddles & walks at a rescue in Saigon – do good, feel good
If you’ve ever wanted to do something meaningful while traveling, this is it. Spend two heartwarming hours with rescue dogs in Saigon — many saved from cruelty or life on the streets. At this rare cage-free shelter, you’ll see what hope and second chances really look like.Meet Gabbi, found as a tiny pup, stabbed and sick, yet today she wags her tail and seeks out cuddles. And Banjo, rescued just in time from the dog meat trade, now living his second chance with dignity and joy. Stories like these aren’t exceptions — they’re the reason this shelter exists. To date, over 800 dogs have been rescued, nearly 700 rehabilitated, and 600 rehomed into loving families.Unlike most shelters, this one is fully open — no cages, no concrete pens. The dogs live, play, and heal together in a relaxed, home-like setting. You’ll help walk them through the neighborhood, give them food and cuddles, and assist with grooming. Most importantly, you’ll show them humans can be kind.Whether you’re traveling solo or with family, this is a chance to be part of something bigger. By visiting, you’re supporting a small women-led team protecting Vietnam’s most vulnerable animals — and helping create a kinder future for both dogs and people. What to ExpectJoin the daily dog walk through Saigon and help feed rescue pupsAssist with grooming – brushing fur, giving showers and keeping the dogs comfySpend time socialising and cuddling dogs recovering from trauma and neglectLearn about the dog meat trade and transformation stories from the shelter teamMeet rare Vietnamese breeds like the Phu Quoc Ridgeback and Hmong BobtailExperience a completely cage-free approach to dog rescue — rare in VietnamGood to KnowOpen to families, couples and solo travellers – no prior dog-handling experience neededThis is a 2-hour join-in activity, so it easily fits into your day in SaigonWear comfy clothes you don't mind getting a bit wet or furry in – cuddles guaranteed!

Meet your host
Elizabeth started her organization in 2019 after seeing too many dogs in Ho Chi Minh City left to suffer without help. Rather than waiting for change, she built a safe space herself – a no-kill, cage-free shelter run entirely by volunteers. Since then, the team has rescued hundreds of dogs, helping them recover and find new homes. Elizabeth’s approach is hands-on and community-driven. She believes caring for animals is part of caring for people too – that by promoting animal welfare, you build a safer, kinder place for everyone. Through school visits and local outreach, she’s also helping the next generation grow up with empathy and respect for animals, people and planet.
