Review Body: Our stay at the Green Rooms were just wonderful. Everything was so relaxed and easy going. Every other guest quickly adopted the easy surfer beach life everyone else lived here, and we quickly made good friends with the other guests there. The owner and his staff were very accommodating and helpful, always wanting to help you with anything. The rooms were very nice and fresh, and we weren't bothered by housekeeping until we asked for it. The food at their kitchen was simple, but at the same time it was among the best dishes we got in Sri Lanka. While we where there, we got both yoga lessons and surf lessons. The surf lessons were depending on there actually being waves, and this wouldn't always be the case. Naturally, nobody can control that, and they always made an good effort to always at least give poor conditions a shot. Their tutors were very nice as well as being good teachers. On our stay we even met people from other surfing camps coming to The Green Rooms to get lessons because they just preferred it over where they stayed. If I had to nit pick I would have liked there to be wifi at the rooms we stayed in, but their router was only at their main building, so the signals only reached the dining area. We weren't too bothered about this as we didn't go to Sri Lanka to stay in our room to surf the net of course. The wifi in the dining area covered our needs just fine. If you want a proper Sri Lankan authentic surfer experience for an easy going and lazy life on the beach, you will have to work hard to find a better place than The Green Rooms.

Review Body: It must have been fate that I stumbled upon this place while staying somewhere else the week before. Everything I needed was provided for (clean room, good food, good waves and good surf instruction), but most important is the vibe at the Green Rooms. The relaxed, helpful and friendly attitude of staff (and AJ!) in combination with generally relaxed and interesting guests made me feel like I was hanging out with friends all the time. There is no hand holding or aggressive service, so it is really up to you what you make of your stay there, and for me, that is a perfect setting for a vacation. If you need anything, all you have to do is ask, and someone will help, or find someone who can. If you get a chance, sign up for the fishing boat trip across the bay to a reef spot. Prices are reasonable, and overall I can say that value for money is in appropriate. I will definitely come back. Thanks for the great memories!

Review Body: When I came to Sri Lanka I wanted to try surfing for my first time. I was very scared and I owe it to Jack and Shehan that I will go surfing again as soon as possible. They made me feel safe and were very patient. We had a lot of fun together and they motivated me not to give up. The luxury rooms are simple and very clean. The cabanas are just wonderful. You can hear the ocean and have a shower under the sky. The food is very delicious and also the coffee was very great :-) (this is not common in Sri Lanka). The whole stuff is more than just some friendly Singhalese stuff. They made us feel like home. In our 16 days trip to Sri Lanka we already stayed 7 days at the green rooms but after a short journey inside the country we had to go back for our last 3 days. Leaving the green rooms were not easy. Thanks to Niran and the rest of the crew for the stay in paradise. We will definitely come back!

Review Body: Me, my wife and our son stayed in the green rooms for three weeks. We enjoyed surfing and the good food they serve. The place is run by AJ and his staff. They are all verry friendly, relaxed and always willing to help you with something. The place has a much more relaxed and open welcome atmopshere than the other places in the neighbourhoud and the cabanas are nice and affordable. They also organise a traditional food experience cooked by the family of the owner, which was oustanding, and they have there own surfinstructors and boat to take you to the reef iff you are an advanced Surfer. There are so many things better about this place than other places, so iff you are looking for a great place to stay and you are not only looking for a luxery hotel ? this is a fantastic place to surf, eat and stay. Review Body: During my 2 week stay I was absolutely amazed by the beautiful camp located directly at the ocean and the people i met there. The place has a super chilled vibe and the staff is very friendly at all times and will also arrange everything for you if you ask for something. I booked the surfing lessons and it was everyday a fantastic start into the day before a tasty breakfast and then again a lesson during sunset to end the day in a beautiful setting. The beach (very good for beginners and intermediates) is really directly in front of the place! The surfinstructor was also very professional so i could improve on my surf. If you look for a relaxed place in a beautiful surrounding, surf, have good food and also some drinks sometimes in a chilled atmosphere with nice guests as well as locals, i can only recommend this place!

Review Body: To stay at the Green Rooms was the best decision we could make. Nice hotel in front of the beach. The waves at this surf spot are perfect for beginner and advanced. We could go surfing every day. They offer also boattrips to the reef, to surf there, wich is super nice too. The food in the restaurant, wich belongs to the hotel is delicious. You can choose between several meals and the best thing: fresh fish nearly every day. If you want to have a yoga lesson the stuff is organizing everything for you. There are also yoga lessons in a temple near to the hotel every day. But the best thing we‘re the people wich are working at the Green Rooms. Everyone is super friendly and heartful. First we planned to travel around, but finally we stayed our whole holiday at this place. We definitely are planning to come back!

Review Body: I had the most amazing time staying at the Green Rooms in march! The cabanas are plain but have a nice beachy flair. The camp is right at the beach and a good way away from the busy (and very noisy) road. A lot of the other hotels around are right on the road so you might wanna watch out for that before you book anything. The atmosphere in the camp is very chill, you soon get to know everyone else who's staying (if you want to). I've been travelling on my own and it was just the ideal holiday. The boys are so welcoming and funny. If you get the chance to go out for partying with them, you should definitely accept the offer! ;) I was pretty stressed out from work before I came to sri lanka but after 3 weeks in Weligama I felt completely rejuvinated ;) Can't wait to come back asap!

Review Body: Booked my first three nights here and ended up staying the entire 3 weeks of my Sri Lanka Trip like to many people before me. Stay here if you want to: - stay directly at the beach without having to take a scooter or cross a road - wake up and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean (not tuktuks or traffic) - get in contact with the locals - learn how to surf or already surf - find out about the best surf spots and how to get there (fishing boat!) The whole team is super fun and there are lots of different room options to chose from. I started in a beautiful beachfront cabana and ended in one of the spacious AC rooms in the back. Can’t wait to be back in a couple of months!

Review Body: This was my second stay at the Green Rooms and it continues to be my favourite place in Sri Lanka! The guys are all super welcoming and make you feel at home right away. I would highly recommend getting some surf lessons, and also joining AJ and the guys on one of their surf trips, by Sri lankan fishing boat, to a nearby reef, which was one of my favourite waves in Sri Lanka. It was my first time surfing a reef but the guys really knew the spot and where to catch waves from so we all caught lots even when the break got busier 👍 Would really recommend this place if your looking for a laid-back surf holiday right on the beach. Review Body: Just meters away from the best surfing spot of the bay, this place is an absolute jewel for surfers of all levels. If you're just getting started here - like myself - you'll be gliding along the waves in no time with the help of the awesome instructors. In the case that you already have experience just grab a board for very cheap renting rates and go rip! Even if you're not interested in surfing at all this place offers you chill beach-vibes, nice rooms, great food and awesome staff. AJ and his crew will make every effort to help with anything you might need. Solid 10/10, I will definitely come back!

Review Body: It was the 3rd time that i stayed in this hostel. The place is located in front of the beach, so in the morning you can check from the balkony if it is worth to go surfing or not. In 4 weeks we had kind of every day good waves, sometimes smaller(perfekt for beginners), sometimes bigger. One thing that you can't find in other hostels are the organised boattrips to the reef, which are really nice! Food perfekt, rooms cleaned and the stuffs always helpfull and supernice to the people! I recommend this place for everyone who want to spent an awsome time with awsome people!! Greedings lukas

Review Body: My fiancé and I stayed for 7 nights to do a surf camp and it was unforgettable. The surf instructors are very good and helped us to learn the basics in our first week while having lots of fun. I am not a sporty person and still managed to stand up and surf. We also really enjoyed staying at the Green Rooms as the room was very nice and we enjoyed the sea view a lot! But the best thing was the atmosphere. The team was a like a family for the week we were there. Also the food is very nice. Try the pasta with bacon, perfect meal after surfing. I can only recommend the green rooms!

Review Body: After two years I returned in December to the Greenrooms. It was a warm welcome and my friend and I felt at home immediately. After trying a few surf spots around the world I appreciated the clean waves just in front of the Greenrooms even more. Some days we took the fishing boot and made our way to the reef. There is always a spot with great waves close by. The Greenrooms are the perfect place to relax, surf and meet new people. The staff is super nice and easy to talk to. The longer you stay the more it feels like family. Cant wait until my next stay. :)

Review Body: We really loved our stay in the Green rooms. This beautiful and peaceful place is located in the best place in Weligama, sourrounded by everything you need. Beach is washed by waves for surfers, where even begginers can enjoy their surfing lessons during the breathtaking sunset. AJ and stuff are absolutely lovely and definitely made our stay more enjoyable. Everything was perfect food, rooms were clean with nice view. Happy mood was feeld in the air for all our stay long. Review Body: I stayed at the Green Rooms for just over a week (and didn’t want to leave!) from the beachside location to the friendly staff and great hospitality Green Rooms is ideal for all types of travellers from solo travellers to families. AJ and his team were welcoming from the very first moment and made me feel like I was at home! They also run a surf camp from there with some great instructors perfect for beginners. Review Body: Very nice bungalows and with a nice beach break (Weligama beach) just 100 metres away from your door. Nice and clean bungalows. The owner, AJ, is a super nice guy that give you an excellent service. The rest of the staff is super friendly and helpful as well. Perfect surf compound. They also run surf camps here, so you are likely to find friendly likeminded people to hang with. WiFi included in the price.

Right on the beach with plenty of boards to choose from and access to expert tuition (thanks Jack and his team) we wish we could have stayed longer. Great place to learn to surf or surf and share the experience over a beer with fellow guests.

The surf tuition is excellent, the food is great. All in the best location in weligama. I stayed in one of the cabannas which was perfect, very clean with great views. I cant wait to go back.
