We Believe That Our Travels Can Change the World
We believe that travel is an ultimate good. It helps us become more open hearted people, and helps us learn more about ourselves and the world we live in. It helps us see that we’re all connected, and we’re much more alike than we are different.
But the truth is that our travels can be harmful. We’ve seen places that are so popular with tourists that they become too expensive and unpleasant for locals to live in. We’ve seen wildlife be mistreated in the name of tourism. And the more we travel, the more carbon we emit in our rapidly warming world.
We believe we can do better. Better for travellers, better for local communities and better for the environment. When we are more mindful about where and how we travel, and direct our spending towards impact driven local businesses, our travels can be a powerful force of good in the world.
Better for Travellers
We do all the homework so you don’t have to. We only list things on Seek Sophie that we believe are worthwhile, not tourist traps. What we show you isn’t sponsored, isn’t sorted based on revenue, and is our honest opinion.
Better for Local Communities
We do our best to make sure that the money you spend stays in the local community. We find responsible local guides and businesses who are making a difference in their communities.
Better for the Environment
We do our research and only choose experiences and guides that are respectful of the environment they’re in. We want to be part of the solution, not the problem.
Our Net-Zero Pledge
We offset the carbon footprint of every experience through planting trees, and protecting carbon-sequestering ecosystems such as mangrove forests. It’s not perfect, but we believe it needs to be part of the solution.
