We loved our stay at Ample Forest, it’s such a calm and quiet place and the hosts really make you feel at home. The cooking experience was great fun and we learned a lot, plus the food was delicious. The accommodation is great too, clean and comfortable.

I would give the first part of the trip 5-stars. We really enjoyed the farmstay and cooking class. The family who runs it were so fun, funny and welcoming. We have done one Thai food cooking class before, but this one was unique and that nearly all ingredients came from the farm, e.g. you will hand grate a coconut and squeeze it to create coconut milk. Nice place to stay in Khao Sok National Park.
The next day was the tour of the lake. I would rate this part 3-stars. This was not run by the family on the farm stay. Instead, we were merged with another large tour group of about 50 people. We stayed at Krai Son Lake House, which you can look up on Google and read reviews there. You will see the reviews are quite mixed. That's because the tour group is large, there really isn't any education provided, the food is fine but pretty bland (made for a large group), the huts are minimal with very firm mattresses, etc. That being said, I appreciated spending time on the lake and the rock formations are stunning. The tour guides were also well intentioned and friendly. I think how much you enjoy this experience will depend a lot on your expectations.

The bungalows are basic, but are a great size, clean and the fan was more than adequate to keep us cool.
Great rooftop restaurant. Great breakfast.
It didn't matter for us, but not sure it is walkable to any shops or restaurants, if that's what your looking for.

The loveliest hosts, made us feel very welcome and part of the family. The cooking experience was amazing, a highlight of our Thailand trip. They really helped us out when we made an error with our booking, such kind people. Would 1000% recommend visiting.

The most amazing experience. Everyone was wonderful all the guides and bungalow staff were so accommodating, kind, and knowledgable. Got to meet and hang out with some amazing people it’s an amazing opportunity to meet some people on your travels doing a group experience. And so nice and easy having everything organised for you it felt like a dream. thank you!

really a lovely stay. you could easily have spent more days here. sweetest staff who baked a cake for my girlfriend’s birthday and sang a birthday song. highly recommended.

The stay and cooking class at Ample forest was amazing and the ladies running Ample forest are the nicest people and make you feel like part of the family. The cooking class was one of the best experience we’ve had in Thailand! Khao Sok stay was fun and beautiful.
