We joined the Sapa Off-Grid Trek with Social Enterprise, and the experience exceeded all expectations. Our guide, Phay, a local farmer who guides during the off-harvest season, made the trek exceptional from start to finish.
He was attentive to our pace and always made sure we were comfortable on the trail. Throughout the trek, he shared thoughtful insights about the Hmong and Dao communities, patiently answered every question, and pointed out details along the route that we would never have noticed on our own. Walking with someone who grew up in the region and from the Hmong tribe offered a perspective that standard tourist routes simply cannot provide.
An important aspect of this tour is that it directly contributes to the livelihoods of local people like Phay, supporting them outside of the harvest season while promoting sustainable and responsible tourism.
Thanks to Phay, we were able to see a side of Sapa that felt genuine, grounded, and deeply connected to the land and its people. He is a tremendous asset to this experience, and we are grateful for the opportunity to have learned from him.

We had a really magical moment in Bali tonight when we visited the firefly conservation project! So wonderful with a night walk through the jungle looking for fireflies and eating a wonderful traditional Bali meal cooked in the open using the leaves and fruits we had collected on our way. Waylan’s family made us so welcome and his workers and volunteers have so much information about the project. We came away feeling that we had helped contribute to a really important project and had learnt so much!

We had a great experience with the "off the beaten track" on a single day, witnessing wonderful scenery in an area that would've otherwise been neglected (we encountered no other tourist in the whole trek). Loved exploring it with San May, she was cheerful, enthusiastic and explained us so much about the area. The food was excellent and the herbal bath was the perfect ending

May Xuan was a very nice host. Her english is excellent and she gave us a lots of i formation about her village, family life snd the differences about the ethnics living around Sapa. The food was also very tasty!
We would recommend to bring a sleeping bad since accomodation is very basic.

Booking was smooth online. Confirmation through the company was only a whatsapp message to confirm pickup location, nothing else. Had to change the booking last minute due to an injury and seek sophie was fast to help with that. Our guide, May, was great. Could tell us many things about the place and people, was very helpful and adaptive to our group. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Our guide was very nice, knowledgable and helpful! He takes great pictures and made the trek fun and not too touristy. Will recommend to those who want a more authentic experience of Sapa's villages!

It was such a spectacular experience. I loved how passionate the team was about their firefly conservation efforts. Another plus point: it wasn’t as touristy as I expected. Walking through the farm, picking my own ingredients for dinner, then ending the night with a firefly viewing session… everything just felt so thoughtful and special.
Trust the reviews when they say this tour is absolutely worth going.
Big shoutout to Krishna, Yessica, and Rifty for making the experience extra memorable, and to Bibik for the incredible food. I left completely stuffed and with a full heart!!

Our group included 3 kids, age 9, 11, 12, and we chose the more difficult route. The terrain was manageable and soo beautiful!! Really enjoyed trekking through the villages and farms, observing the way of life. Our guide San May was so friendly, helpful, and informative. She kept us entertained with her stories and interesting bits of knowledge. My kids enjoyed the adventurous parts of crossing streams and steep paths. Highly recommend!
