This has got to be one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had, ever! Wayan, his team and his family moved me with their hospitality and unwavering commitment to the ethical conservation of Bali’s fireflies. I especially enjoyed learning about the different types of fireflies and foraging for ingredients for dinner. It was truly a magical experience that I’ll remember for life.
(Shoutout to sweet Novi and cute Tegal the cat ❤️)

One of our favourite experiences throughout our 3 week trip in Indonesia! We were welcomed with such kindness and warmth by our incredible guide, Wayan's family, and Wayan. The home cooked meal was intimate and delicious. The lab tour and walk around the land were fascinating, so informative, and inspiring. We asked so many questions and learned so much! And then being able see the fireflies at night in all their glory, both in the lab and in the rice fields, was so beautiful and moving. We had never seen fireflies in real life before and it was more magical than we could've imagined. We're so thankful to the team at Taman Dukuh Farm for their conservation work and for sharing this experience with us!

Our trek started at Sapa O'Chau's office. Our guide, Su May, offered us two options: an easy route through villages (generally flat terrain), or a more difficult route through rice terraces (uneven terrain with multiple uphill and down slopes). We chose the latter and it was a truly eye-opening experience. The trek is very challenging (so please wear proper hiking shoes), but the scenery is amazing. Our guide can speak fluent English, and her sharing about the Sapa culture and way of life is insightful (just hoped that she can sound more eager/enthusiastic!). The trek included lunch at a local restaurant, as well as transportation to pick up and drop off anywhere in Sapa Town.

Me and my boyfriend visited Wayan and his family and had such an amazing time! We got to learn a lot about the firefly project and take part of the passion that goes in to the project from everyone involved. We learned about the area and history and it was nice to get a local experience outside the touristy areas. We got to meet Wayans lovely family and on top of that had delicious homemade food - best food we had in Bali! Thank you so much for this great experience!

This was a wonderful experience! This trek allows you not only to see and experience the beauty of the highlands, but also to seek to understand the culture and people. Would recommend!

May was such a lovely guide who was really supporting and helpful, especially in my case because I didn‘t feel super good and was a bit sick. The tour was really nice and the views beautiful. Her English was really good and we could understand her without problems! Also the lunch was very delicious. So the price was totally okay and worth it. Would do a second tour for sure but then more than 1 day :-)

One of the most amazing moments during our trip to Bali! Wayan, Novi, and his family did an incredible job of showcasing the beauty of fireflies, explaining the importance of preserving them and showing us the stunning natural beauty of Bali.
We had a great time exploring the farm, learning about the lives of the fireflies, and even cooking with Wayan's family.
I highly recommend taking the time to visit this place - it's an experience you won't forget.
I have so much respect and appreciation for the hard work that went into this project. Thank you, Wayan and team, for creating something so unique and special. <3

Wayan Wardika and his family welcomed us more warmly than anyone else on our trip to Asia.
We were incredibly touched by his lovely family and his farm.
The story behind his mission to run an organic farm where the fireflies can live undisturbed to save them from extinction and to run a laboratory and research on the fireflies inspired us so much.
But that was just one of the wonderful experiences we had there.
After a welcome with coffee and sweets, we toured his farm and got to sample some locally grown food.
Afterwards, his super motivated employee welcomed us and told us all about the fireflies and their current state of research as well as their personal journey and mission.
After the BEST meal I ever had in Bali (cooked by the family) we went to watch the glowworms (in the dark).
We were so happy to have seen some and let the truly magical place take effect.
Wayan Wardika organized a birthday cake for my friend Isabelle.
We would like to thank Wayan Wardika and his family and staff for this wonderful evening and wish him and his project all the best!!!
