This has got to be one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had, ever! Wayan, his team and his family moved me with their hospitality and unwavering commitment to the ethical conservation of Bali’s fireflies. I especially enjoyed learning about the different types of fireflies and foraging for ingredients for dinner. It was truly a magical experience that I’ll remember for life. (Shoutout to sweet Novi and cute Tegal the cat ❤️)

One of our favourite experiences throughout our 3 week trip in Indonesia! We were welcomed with such kindness and warmth by our incredible guide, Wayan's family, and Wayan. The home cooked meal was intimate and delicious. The lab tour and walk around the land were fascinating, so informative, and inspiring. We asked so many questions and learned so much! And then being able see the fireflies at night in all their glory, both in the lab and in the rice fields, was so beautiful and moving. We had never seen fireflies in real life before and it was more magical than we could've imagined. We're so thankful to the team at Taman Dukuh Farm for their conservation work and for sharing this experience with us!

Our trek started at Sapa O'Chau's office. Our guide, Su May, offered us two options: an easy route through villages (generally flat terrain), or a more difficult route through rice terraces (uneven terrain with multiple uphill and down slopes). We chose the latter and it was a truly eye-opening experience. The trek is very challenging (so please wear proper hiking shoes), but the scenery is amazing. Our guide can speak fluent English, and her sharing about the Sapa culture and way of life is insightful (just hoped that she can sound more eager/enthusiastic!). The trek included lunch at a local restaurant, as well as transportation to pick up and drop off anywhere in Sapa Town.
