This full-day adventure to Perfume Pagoda takes you to one of northern Vietnam’s most important pilgrimage sites. You’ll explore cave temples, many dating back to the 17th century. Legend has it that a Buddhist monk found this site while seeking a peaceful place to meditate. Since them, countless of pilgrims have followed the same path you’re about to take.What makes this trip special (and fun) isn’t just the temples... it’s the journey! Ride a sampan along the river, take a short walk through the hills, and wander serene temple grounds before reaching the Perfume Pagoda complex, a group of temples and caves set into the limestone cliffs of Huong Tich Son (Mount of Fragrances). The pagoda gets its name from the sweet fragrance of wildflowers and herbs in the area (especially during spring), and is believed to carry the blessings of the goddess.Then, you'll take a cable up to another highlight - the Huong Tich Cave, often called the most beautiful cave in Vietnam. Inside, you’ll find stunning stalactites and stalagmites, each named for the blessings they’re thought to bring. Many locals stop here to pray for prosperity, fertility, or good luck. Even if you’re not religious, the cave's historical significance will leave you in awe.
