Review Body: We loved this place so much that we even extended our stay! Everything was perfect. The guesthouse is located next to the main villa, surrounded by nature, with a little stream flowing through the garden. Lis and Khalid are such wonderful hosts—super welcoming and always ready with great recommendations on places to visit and experiences worth our time. On top of that, we could rent a scooter directly from them, which was incredibly convenient. The place truly feels magical. The lush vegetation around the property is breathtaking, and we spotted so many birds, including a couple of hornbills. Even some monkeys greeted us every morning! They also have three super friendly dogs who occasionally joined us on walks around the farm, making the experience even more special. And we can’t forget to mention the breakfast and coffee—absolutely delicious! It was the perfect way to start each morning. If you’re looking for a peaceful, nature-filled retreat with amazing hosts, this is the place to be!

Review Body: The hosts are incredibly warm and kind-hearted, and you can really feel their passion for organic produce and sustainable living. Breakfast was thoughtful and delicious, straight from the farm. The cottage was very cozy and even have a kitchenette, aircon & washing machine! Sitting on the porch, I saw dusty leaf monkeys, chicken, geese, cats. They also have 5 friendly and well-behaved dogs, I would go on walks with a whole entourage. A really special place with good energy, good people, and a lot of heart. I will be back often!

Review Body: Thank you so much Liz and Khalid for your wonderful hospitality! My husband and I spent our anniversary in this beautiful farmstay of yours, and that’s probably the best decision ever. We enjoyed the company of your adorable dogs who were always there at our doorstep. Your doggy also accompanied us whenever we took a walk to the main road. I’m already missing your breakfast! Liz, you have such a genuine heart, with so much of love and compassion for animals. This place is only for animal lovers!!!

Review Body: Lis and her family are truly excellent hosts. We were treated like family at their new homestay, being taken great care of. They serve really delicious baked and cooked food, some of the tastiest I've had in a long time! The location is away from the hustle and bustle, giving a peaceful forest experience. You'll also get a free orchestra of singing from the local fauna of birds. Definitely come here if you're looking for a relaxing getaway.

Review Body: If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and if you love animals, this is the place to be! Lis and Khalid were very hospitable and their impeccably behaved fur kids deserve a special mention: Tam, Cookie, Utih, Luna, Burn, Boy, Scarface, Ruby and Guy, thank you for being so affectionate and cuddly! Lis’s chicken rendang with nasi lemak was one of the most delectable we have tasted so far.

Review Body: This place is a dream for those who craves anonymity and being off-grid. What makes it's special is the host hospitality. The animals are great too, mischievous but gentle. Will come back of it ever need detachment from the world.

Learn to cook Malaysian comfort food on a peaceful Langkawi farm with Lis
If you want a Malaysian cooking class that feels like being invited into someone’s home, this is the one. In quiet northeast Langkawi, you’ll cook in an open-air farmhouse kitchen, pick herbs straight from a permaculture garden, and learn home-style dishes like nasi lemak with chicken rendang or roti jala with chicken curry. It’s especially good for travellers who want a slower, more personal side of the island. *The host can also adapt the recipes for vegetarian or vegan guests, so please share any dietary requirements when making your booking.Instead of working with pre-prepped ingredients in a studio, you’ll start with a short walk around the farm to see what is growing and harvest what you’ll use. The class is private, so the pace is relaxed and conversational. You’re not just following steps. You’re learning the little details behind everyday Malaysian comfort food from someone who traded city life for farm living. The setting is a big part of why this feels different. The farmhouse is surrounded by greenery, with rescued dogs and cats around the property and forest just behind the house. As you sit down to eat, you may spot hornbills, other native birds, or even monkeys passing through. It feels more like spending an afternoon in rural Langkawi than ticking off a standard activity. What to ExpectPrivate 2-hour hands-on cooking class in an open-air farmhouse kitchenShort farm walk to pick fresh herbs and ingredients from the permaculture gardenLearn to cook Malaysian home-style dishes such as nasi lemak with chicken rendang or roti jala with chicken curryCooking tips, recipes, and stories behind the dishes and farm lifeEnjoy the meal you’ve cooked in a peaceful countryside settingFriendly rescued dogs and cats around the farm, with possible wildlife sightings nearbyGood to KnowRound-trip transfers are not included, but taxis and ride-hailing services are easy to arrangeHeld in a rural part of Langkawi, away from the busier tourist areasThe kitchen is open-air, so expect a natural outdoor setting with heat, humidity, and countryside soundsBest suited to guests who are comfortable around dogs and cats

Meet your host

Lis and Khalid swapped a city-paced life for Langkawi’s countryside, where they now host guests on a small permaculture farmstay surrounded by greenery. Before the move, Lis ran a bakery in Johor while Khalid worked in Singapore, so island life was a big change. What makes them special is the way they share their everyday life with guests — growing food, caring for the land, and showing what a slower, simpler routine can look like. Their place feels rooted in the local community, and guests get a glimpse of a more mindful way of living in Langkawi, far from the busy tourist scene.
