Learn the real stories of Lombok farmers and their community
This peaceful farm visit is perfect for curious travellers who want to see how food is grown sustainably and witness how one family is transforming their community. Instead of a commercial tourist farm, you’ll explore a working regenerative farm where every plant, animal and insect has its role in the ecosystem. You’ll walk through gardens full of vegetables, fruits, herbs and roots — most of which you can taste if they’re in season. And yes, you’ll get to meet the animals too! Best of all is that you will be hosted by truly passionate farmers who not only care about the land but also the community around them.Unlike other farm tours that can feel a bit sterile or scripted, this one’s hosted by the actual folks who work the land every day. They’re full of practical know-how and down-to-earth stories — like why planting flowers next to eggplant helps keep bugs away, or how saving seeds helps plants adapt to the changing climate. If you’re into gardening, permaculture, or just want to know where your food really comes from, this is your kind of place.Great for families, nature lovers, or anyone looking to slow down and learn something new in a hands-on way. Plus, the story behind the farm is a pretty inspiring one — the land used to be an abandoned, rocky cashew orchard. Today, it’s a thriving green oasis thanks to years of care from the team. The best part maybe learning about the founders story and their contributions to the community such as helping locals learn more about sustainable farming practices so that they are not dependent on destructive monocrops as well as supporting women and girls in the community that face child marriage and domestic abuse. What to ExpectRelaxed guided walk around the farm to explore all kinds of edible plants — fruits, vegetables, herbs, and rootsMeet the resident farm animals and understand their part in the ecosystemTry seasonal produce right off the plant — things like mulberries, herbs, and crunchy long beansHear from the local team who live and breathe regenerative farmingGood to KnowThis is a super easy walk suitable for all ages (minimum 4 years old) — beginners friendlyThe experience lasts around 1 to 1.5 hoursTransport to the farm isn’t included, but you can add it on when booking (add-on available)No meals or overnight stays are included, but these can also be added if you're keen to stick around (add-on available)Add-On: Farmstay BungalowsExtend your visit with a night in the wooden bungalows overlooking the lush farm. Meet your host
Sutikno and his wife, Anne-Sophie, started their journey in Lombok back in 2013. They returned to Indonesia after years abroad where they worked in development agencies in countries as far flung as Mali and Laos. They were ready to settle down and without even seeing the land first, they bought it to help someone in a medical emergency. What they got was dry, rocky ground—but they rolled up their sleeves and slowly transformed it into a thriving farm using regenerative practices. Over the years their kindness extends far beyond growing vegetables on the farm — they now share their sustainable permaculture farming knowledge widely with community in hopes that they can improve farming practices across the island, allowing the soil to regenerate from decades of monocropping. They also work to empower local women, who face child marriage and domestic violence in northern Lombok, by giving them meaningful employment and teaching them English. Their cup is always overflowing with love and care for their community.
