Review Body: As a watercolor artist, I’ve always wanted to create my own seal to personalize my paintings, and Jean’s stone seal carving workshop was the perfect experience! I learned about the history of ancient Chinese characters and carved my very own quirky birdie seal, plus another bird in ancient script. I honestly didn’t think I could do it, but Jean’s patience, guidance, and approachable teaching made it so easy and fun. She answered all our questions and I really enjoyed the whole experience. Highly recommend!

Jean Toh started Baisimu in 2010, carving out a quiet corner for traditional crafts in the modern world. She hand-makes stone seals and rubber stamps, often adding a local flavour with designs that feature Peranakan shophouses, Ang Ku Kueh, and curry puffs. Jean’s work blends the old with the new, keeping heritage alive in a way that feels fresh and personal. She also hosts workshops, sharing her skills in stone seal carving and stamp-making with anyone curious to give it a go. Jean’s approach is thoughtful and down-to-earth, shaped by years of hands-on practice and a real connection to the culture around her.
