The experience was nice, and the instructor was quite friendly. I would just say in terms of value for money- for an $85 dollar linocut workshop, one would have expected to work on a linocut block (and learn the techniques despite the difficulty), whereas in this case, it was very self-guided with no flexibility in terms of colours, tools, and block size/shape.

Dear A

We thank you for your feedback. In terms of flexibility, the tools, size of lino block and colours are intentionally kept simple and manageable to allow beginner students to focus on correct techniques without having to handle too many variables.

All our past participants have used the standard linocut tools provided without issue. Our tools are checked regularly for blade sharpness and precision.

Our standard linocut block is 10x15cm as stated in our pre-workshop information sheet which you received a week before the class. Larger block sizes are available on request for a nominal fee, and are suited for more experienced students. In our experience, a 10x15cm block is ideal for beginners as they are more likely complete the carving process. Larger blocks may require two or more sessions to complete.

Printing ink is always in black unless the workshop is the duo-colour option. Coloured printing inks can be temperamental as they each have different profiles and characteristics which require skill and practice to manipulate. In conclusion, students can be overwhelmed with too much flexibility and varied results, hence we have fine-tuned the workshop to let students enjoy the best experience.

With reference to the workshop being "self-guided", we regret that you were not able to join us during the practical guided lesson by the instructor as you arrived late. Hence you may have missed our hands-on, closely guided tutorial by our instructor. Nevertheless, value your feedback and we welcome you to join a complimentary tutorial session should you wish to learn more. Kindly email us at "hello@artefakts.sg" to arrange. Thank you and have a pleasant day!

My children (7 years old and 3 years old) and I had an amazing afternoon learning and creating at Artefakts. Kids are so proud of the finished products and can’t stop talking about what they learned about marbling. Thank you!

2hr is a bit short, and no one teaches /guided us. Not worth it.

Hi Zhang Mei, thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry for not meeting your expectations. Our website describes art jamming as unguided, paint-as-you-wish sessions for participants to enjoy art freely and to paint any subject of their choice. Hence it is not to be confused with a fully guided art tutorial session.

Our friendly resident artists are always available to assist whenever help or guidance is needed. For example, when you spilled a bottle of black paint, we attended to you immediately to clean up the mess. Other than some initial questions, we did not recall other requests for assistance as you appeared rather absorbed in your painting throughout the session.

We would also like to clarify that although the session was limited to 2.5 hrs, we were happy to accommodate your stay beyond 3 hrs (1pm-4.15pm) at no extra charge.

Nevertheless, we appreciate your feedback and comments. We value all feedback and promise to do our best to offer the best experience for our customers. – Sincerely, Jeffrey, founder, Artefakts.
