Stay overnight in a family-run raft house, close to elephant sighting spots
This 2D1N raft house experience is perfect if you’re looking for a quiet, off-the-beaten-path escape. Tucked in a quieter part of the lake (away from other rafthouses and visitor traffic) - it’s a great spot to soak up nature, and maybe even spot some wildlife. Rumour has it there’s a family of wild elephants living nearby so you have a higher chance of spotting them here!Unlike many basic raft houses in the area, which don’t offer any ensuite options and just provide floor mattresses, this one has deluxe and family rooms with ensuite bathrooms, as well as proper beds for added comfort. Each floating cabin is beautifully crafted from locally-sourced bamboo with traditional thatched roofs. It’s family-run, so you can expect a warm, personal touch throughout your stay.This is a great option for the best chance to spot wildlife in a short period of time - since the raft house is located close to where they’re often spotted. It’s perfect for those looking for a mid-budget raft house that offers more comfort, like ensuite bathrooms, while still being close to nature. Plus, it’s conveniently located near Coral Cave and other hidden gems of the lake, so you can explore without sacrificing the tranquillity of your stay.What to Expect1 night stay in a mid-budget, family-run rafthouse on Cheow Lan lake.One Boat Safari on Cheow Lan Lake: Experience the enchanting beauty of the Lake, offering a chance to watch wildlife such as elephants and gibbons in their natural habitat.Adventure Activities: Embark on an exciting adventure with guided jungle hikes, thrilling bamboo rafting, and exploring the mysterious Coral Cave, all set in the heart of Khao Sok National Park.Coral Cave Hike: The total hike duration is around 2 hours and includes some steep and uneven sections. This part of the trip may not be suitable for elderly guests or those with knee injuries.Kayak and Swimming: Enjoy the crystal-clear waters of Cheow Lan Lake with kayaking and swimming, offering a refreshing and fun way to explore the stunning surroundings.You will be accompanied by a local long-tail boat driver who speaks very limited English. He will be able to help you locate wildlife, but please note that he may not be able to provide a lot of in-depth information about the environment. The guide’s primary role is to ensure a safe passage through the trail. If you're looking for a guide with more detailed knowledge about the local wildlife and environment, we recommend considering a 2D1N experience with private guide. A private guide can offer more in-depth insights into the ecosystem, wildlife, and the surrounding nature.This is a join-in trip with a single group of up to 20 people, so you’ll be sharing the experience with other travelers. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and enjoy the adventure together.During the high season (November to April), guests may be part of a larger group, with up to 100 people staying at the raft house. Since the lake has limited trails and caves for exploration, both day-trip and overnight visitors often share the same activity spots.The Khao Sok National Park, Pier, Coral Cave and Wildlife Sanctuary Fees are not included in the package and are approximately 540 THB per adult / 270 THB per child in total. These fees are subject to change based on park policies.Tips and NotesIf you arrive late at the pier, the boat will need to leave, and there will be extra charge to hire another boat.Since Cheow Lan Lake is tucked away in the jungle, get ready to be flexible with the itinerary and enjoy the adventure along the way!For your safety, please wear a life jacket at all times when you are in the water, swimming, kayaking, or on any boat at Cheow Lan Lake. We won’t be responsible for any accidents that occur if a life jacket is not wornCustomers must provide their passport number prior to the trip date. If a customer fails to provide their passport number and an accident occurs during the trip, any insurance coverage will not applyFor guest safety, the rafthouse may change or cancel the Bamboo Rafting and Coral Cave hike without prior notice if elephants are nearby or if the national park ranger closes the trail on the trip date. In such cases, the activity will be replaced with a boat safariAbout the RafthouseThe Deluxe and Family rafthouse rooms have ensuite bathrooms.Please note that this raft house does not have wifi and the 4G signal is quite weak and at times does not work at all. Please inform any friends and family that you will be going off grid!Electricity is turned off between the hours of 6am to 6pm to save on power. You will not be able to charge your phone or other devices until the electricity is turned on.Only cold water shower is available.Only fan is available for cooling, however the nights are quite cool, thus AC is not necessary.Amenities: kayaks and life jackets are provided at each rafthouse.Cancellation PolicyPlease be aware that cancellations cannot be made once the booking is confirmed.Add-onsIf you are coming from Surat Thani, Phuket or Krabi, transportation add-ons are available
