I had a great time creating my own knife step by step! The blacksmiths were really helpful and patient while I was learning and doing my best throughout the process! It was also nice to discover a different part far from the center of Hanoi, just make sure you can reach the meeting point on your own or book the pickup service :)

This place is absolutely lovely, and the mosaics are impressive. Come earlier or stay longer to really enjoy the different masterpieces! The staff was very friendly, and creating our own mosaic was a lot of fun. Even though I needed much more time and stayed after closing hours, they never said anything or rushed me, which I really appreciated. The only thing that was missing: the tour description mentioned an introduction and a visit to the showroom, but that never happened. We just sat down at the table and immediately started working on mosaics. Because of that, we felt a bit lost at times—but overall, it was still a very nice and relaxing afternoon.

Enjoyed this creative workshop which allowed for a few hours of quiet in a busy bustling city. It was also a very educational and culturally enlightening opportunity to learn about the tradition of lion dance which was brought to Vietnam by the Chinese and to this day is preserved by the local Chinese community. The artist comes from a proud line of lion dancers, his father still dancing even in his late 60s! We got to into it that my friend and I stopped by a nearby temple to "open up the eyes and mouths" of our mini lion heads to make sure that they bring us luck (which is what they do with the big dance costumes during CNY!).

It was such a fun workshop! We learned about the cultural roots of lion dance and got to decorate our own lion heads. I’m not very artistic, so I was a little nervous about painting, but the artisan's guidance made it easy — he even helped touch it up so it looked great in the end. Hoa was the host and Huan was the artisan, both were friendly and passionate about their craft. Highly recommend if you're looking for a unique and meaningful cultural activity in Saigon!

What an amazing experience! We were looking for something a little different to do in HCM and found the mini lion head painting workshop. The hosts were amazing and took us through some history of the lion dance before starting the crafting process. We had a great time and found the whole experience very relaxing. The class was in a small cafe on the top floor with an elevator available almost to the top floor. The space had great views of the city skyline and coffee and pastries on offer to buy.

This was such a unique experience and will be a highlight of our time in Vietnam. They whole workshop is hands on and the blacksmith and your guide make you feel comfortable and at ease with every step. Our tour guide for the knife making was Ninh who made the whole experience feel like doing a workshop with a friend. A must for anyone wanting something a little different than the usual tourist experience.
