Hanoi to Sapa Transport

Hanoi - Sapa is one of the most popular traveller routes in Vietnam, because Sapa is accessible to all types of travellers from backpackers to young kids. In Sapa you can see iconic rice terrace views, support local social enterprises and get to learn more about the different minority communities in Vietnam.

• The best time to visit Sapa is from March to May or from September to November when the weather is not too hot, and dry.
• The rice terraces are at their most beautiful from September to October when the harvest season is in full swing.
• We'd avoid going from December to February as it's winter and gets very cold and foggy!

• There are three ways of getting from Hanoi to Sapa: train, bus or car.
• For the best night's sleep, you should take the overnight train. There are three train companies that basically operate carriages from the same train. The most comfortable is Chapa Express.
• The overnight bus is also comfortable as there are fully reclining seats. However, the bus companies sometimes overbook so you may end up on a different bus.
