Review Body: Our visit from 9 AM to 1 PM was nothing short of inspiring. We had the privilege of meeting Ibu Sari, the founder of the center, who openly shared her life story, her struggles, her perseverance, and her incredible achievements. Her journey was deeply moving and a true testament to the strength of women in Balinese society. We also met her vibrant sister, Ibu Chicken, whose joyful energy, infectious laughter, dance moves, and delicious cooking kept everyone smiling from start to finish. And then there was Ibu Ari, who gave us a fascinating insight into the community’s work, the surrounding vegetation and plantations, and their exciting future plans. The hands-on activities were a real highlight, from learning to make herbal tea starting right at the garden (cutting fresh herbs and seeing exactly where they grow) to trying batik drawing with canting and hot wax. One of our participants, Preeti, even freehanded the Host a Sister logo, an impressive and memorable moment! We ended the experience with a home-cooked Balinese meal, prepared and shared with such warmth. This program was not just an activity, but a meaningful cultural exchange, full of learning, laughter, and connection. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting an authentic and enriching experience in Bali

Review Body: From pick-up to drop-off, every detail was handled with care and professionalism. I was informed ahead of time about the planned activities and what to expect, with clear communication provided via text. My dietary needs were accommodated, we stayed on schedule, and there was plenty of time to engage meaningfully with members of the community.Rai was kind, engaging, insightful, and consistently professional throughout the experience. My time at PKP was both inspiring and humbling. This incredible community offers a safe and supportive space for those seeking healing and refuge. I had the privilege of hearing Ibu Sari’s story and learning about her vision to create a sanctuary for others. Her journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and patience. My garden tour, healing meditation session, and time with resident writer and educator rounded off a fantastic day. Would highly recommend.

Learn Balinese crafts with local women & support social change
If you want to learn Balinese traditions and understand deeper social issues in Bali, this experience is a really meaningful way to do so.You’re not visiting a staged workshop or a polished “cultural village.” You’ll spend time inside a grassroots women’s centre where Balinese women come to learn skills, earn income, and support one another. Instead of just watching, you’ll create alongside them, with a choice of activities like batik painting with hot wax, herbal tea making, natural soap, simple Balinese cooking, sewing, or recycled paper. What makes this especially meaningful is the setting. This is a real grassroots space built to help women gain confidence and economic independence while keeping Balinese traditions alive. You’ll meet the founder, hear how the centre began, and get a better sense of how women here balance family, work, and cultural expectations. The experience ends with a home-cooked Balinese meal shared with the community. It feels like you're not just doing a workshop, you're being welcomed into a community.About the Women's CentreThe women's centre is a grassroots social innovation project dedicated to restoring gender balance in Balinese society. By joining this experience, you'll get a firsthand look at how the centre empowers women and uplifts the community. What to ExpectMeet women at the centre and learn about daily life, tradition, and the challenges they navigateHear Ibu Sari’s personal story and how the centre was createdGuided walk through the classrooms, workshop spaces, and community gardenJoin a hands-on workshop such as herbal tea, batik painting, soap making, cooking, recycled paper, or sewingTime for conversation and cultural exchange, not just demonstrationsShare a home-cooked Balinese lunch with the communitySupport a grassroots initiative through your visitGood to KnowDress comfortably and modestly, as you’ll be visiting a local community centre.Be ready for a hands-on experience—this is all about learning and creating!Meals can be adjusted for dietary restrictions, including vegetarian options.Travellers are encouraged to learn basic Balinese etiquette and greetings before visiting. Some activities are weather-dependent and may be adjusted accordingly.Your participation directly supports the women's community—no extra donations required.

Lerne deinen Gastgeber kennen
