Review Body: About 10 minutes outside of Ubud, the studio is in a picturesque family compound. Stone and wood carving, batik , painting. We did stone carving . The tea and balinese desserts were a great addition. The project was done in about 3.5 hours with continuous, watchful and encouraging support from Gusty and Putu. This was a great class and my only regret is that i didnt have time to stay longer and do a more detailed project and that i dont have time to come back and do their other crafts. Highly recommend this-

Review Body: I had a lovely time at the studio. I was the only one participating so I could get help when ever I needed it but he let me do most of the carving myself. You get a rough shape that has already been sawn out and than do the actual carving and sanding. He did the soft sanding at the end with a machine. If you want to you can dye the wood darker. The host was the most patient human on the planet and very kind.

Review Body: I went for the workshop which was supposed to be a 3 hours session, but I ended up spending another 3 hours talking with the brilliant teacher Wayan pujana about life, local culture, music, arts, everything...Not only is he good at teaching how to paint, but also he's ready to introduce the entire Balinese culture to you if you're interested. Thanks for this unique and excellent experience!!

Review Body: Wow ! Bali is a place of beauty and kindness . It also has some extremely gifted artists and artisans who are willing to share their gifts- my wood working instructor at 5 Art Studio was patient and helpful. I’m going back tomorrow to take the batik class. The classes are taught in a magical setting . Beautiful nature and historical buildings create a reverent and peaceful place .

Review Body: One of the best experiences we had in Bali. The host is extremely good at wood crafting but more importantly in teaching us how to handle the tools for the best outcome. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a unique experience in Bali. If you like wood, you’ll definitely appreciate this experience and you’ll be going home with your own handmade piece!

Review Body: The craftsmen were very knowledgeable and patient and helped us come away with a handcrafted wooden item we could feel proud of as a lovely memory of being in Bali. Highly recommend this place as good value for money - it includes free pick up/drop off from hotel. If we had more time we would come back again to make a Batik sarong!

Review Body: Amazing creative day! I have spend an amazing day at the Five Art studio. The place is just outside of Ubud, very tranquil and relaxing. The artists are very talented and took very good care of me in assisting and explaining the whole process. I couldn't recommend Five Art Studio more! It's definitely must do activity while in Bali.

Review Body: This woodcraving experience was absolutely amazing. Since I'm traveling alone, I booked for one person and so I had a private woodcarving lesson with lots of talk and insights to Bali life. The whole village is open for batik, woodcarving and painting and so you get to see lots of Bali arts. Highly recommend.

Learn Balinese artistry + wood carving in a scenic artist village.
If you want to experience something that feels deeply Balinese, this is it. Wood carving is woven into everyday life here — from temples to family shrines. In this hands-on carving experience just outside Ubud, you’ll learn woodworking from local artisans in a peaceful, family-run compound. This isn’t a staged demonstration. You’ll sit where the family works, learn about the woods they use, practise traditional carving techniques, and understand the meaning behind common motifs. It’s slow, focused, and surprisingly grounding. At the end, you’ll take home your own handmade carving — not a souvenir bought in a shop, but something you shaped yourself. It’s a relaxed, meaningful way to connect with Balinese culture and support a craft that’s still very much alive today. What to ExpectBe welcomed with traditional Balinese snacks and drinks before diving into your workshop.Learn wood carving techniques from experienced local artisans.Discover different types of wood commonly used in Balinese carvings.Create your own unique piece to bring home.Enjoy a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere in a traditional Balinese setting.Good to KnowThe Experience lasts approximately 3 hours, but you’re welcome to stay longer to refine your piece. No prior experience is needed – the instructors will guide you every step of the way.Light snacks and drinks are provided. The studio is located about 15 minutes from central Ubud – taxis and motorbike hires are easy to arrange.Great for solo travellers, couples, and families looking for a cultural experience.

Hallo!
