Visit the original Cu Chi tunnels, not the tourist site.
Most Cu Chi tours go to the crowded Ben Dinh tunnels packed with tour buses. This one doesn’t.Instead, you’ll visit Ben Duoc, the original tunnel site about 15km further out, where it’s far quieter and feels much closer to what the tunnels were actually like during the war. With fewer crowds and more preserved areas, it’s one of the best places to truly understand how the Viet Cong lived and fought underground. What makes this experience special is the guide. Expect a fun, energetic storyteller with deep knowledge of Vietnam War history who brings the tunnels to life with real stories, context, and humour along the way. The experience feels less like a typical tour and more like a gripping storytelling session. Along the way you’ll explore underground bunkers, see hidden traps used during the war, and crawl through sections of the original tunnel network yourself (up to 150m if you’re brave). It’s a great choice for curious travellers who want to understand the history behind the tunnels, without the crowds and rushed atmosphere of most Cu Chi tours. The trip ends with a simple, delicious Vietnamese lunch at a local spot. What to ExpectExplore the quieter, more authentic Ben Duoc tunnels — away from the crowdsCrawl through up to 150m of real Viet Cong tunnel networks (you choose how far you go)Visit 10 original underground bunkers, weapon storages, kitchens and traps used in the warGet real stories and context from a guide deeply passionate about Vietnamese war historyTry out your crawling skills and get a feel of how the Viet Cong moved undergroundTour the peaceful Ben Duoc Memorial Temple to reflect and pay respectsOptional shooting range experience with old war-era weapons like the AK-47 (extra fee)Sit down to a delicious, no-frills Vietnamese meal at a local diner — no tourist menus hereGood to KnowFree pick-up and drop-off available from hotels in District 1 and 3 of Ho Chi Minh CityThe drive to Ben Duoc takes 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on trafficIt’s hot and humid — wear something breathable and bring insect repellent for the mosquitos! No need to go the full 150 metres in the tunnels — you can choose shorter distances like 15m or 20mThe tunnel crawl is sweaty but memorable — sportswear is highly recommendedLunch, water, entrance tickets, and transport all includedThis is a join-in trip with a small group and engaging live commentary throughout

Starting out as a freelance tour guide, he teamed up with friends in 2022 to create something a bit different — small group tours that really reflect the spirit of Saigon. He’s all about showing travellers the real city, the way locals live it. Born and raised here, Phuc brings a genuine connection to every experience, whether it’s chatting with market vendors or introducing you to neighbourhoods tourists often miss. His name means “Happy”, and it fits — he’s all smiles, full of energy, and clearly loves what he does. With a fresh, thoughtful style, Phuc’s tours feel more like hanging out with a local friend than ticking off sights.
